Try Looking at the LEGAL ISSUE not at the person

I do not endorse all he's done or said. I don't even endorse all that's been said about him online and elsewhere.

I also do not agree with how he's handled his monetary affairs. Quite frankly (tho' I wasn't there, and can't speak for those involved) I think that he's probably guilty in some way or other. But not to the tune of needing a worse sentence than some far more dangerous people have been given. After all, many bankers, lawyers, and other high muckity-mucks have gotten off pretty lightly in the not too distant past.

And I do not buy ALL of Creationist theory anymore than I do ALL of Evolutionary theory.

I can find truths in several different areas at both ends of the spectrum, as well as faulty ideas that just don't fit within the whole of the geologic or historical records we currently have.

To raise doubts, or to keep asking discomfiting questions (I do--I always have), no matter your stripe, is almost always a choice made in spite of any controversy which might follow.

Which puts me in an awkward spot, but then I suppose I am used to being the one in just such a position, having views on science some will see as objectionable and views on religious tolerance others find even more objectionable.

Recently, some big things have been happening in the world where his case has been concerned, not one speck of which I could look for at Open now they've finally closed up shop for good. As controversies rage over this hot button topic, I may or may not allow myself to get involved in another argument here at all over it. It's just not worth it.

Nota bene: I can't say whether I could doubt ALL either side is saying, either.

Nor was I able to track down a balanced enough article concerning his case. At least, not balanced enough from a non-religious standpoint, that is.

So here's my best shot--and the guy who made this video may have some slanted views I can't agree with completely, yet he has used real facts and offers the complete package in a short, concise, and I think,  pretty clear way.

So here it is. I am NOT preaching to you. This is national news that some of us may have missed in full. Hope everyone gets this about what I am doing here.

Peace to anyone reading this.

I am confused as to what you want us to take away from this post, PW.  You made so many disclaimers your point is not clear, at least not to me.

Okay, I watched the video and then did a little research.

My conclusions are:

1.  BULLSHIT!  The dude got convicted for money laundering and for cheating on his taxes.  His religion has nothing to do with it.

2.  A LOT of what was shown on that video was defamatory, at a minimum, and quite possibly slanderous.

3.  Anybody who teaches that humans and dinosaurs lived together is fucking whack!  Dude is a maroon!

4.  He obviously is a closet John Bircher.  I need not say no more than that.  (Like I said = WHACK!).

So now let me ask YOU a question:  Since when does "religious tolerance" include letting people cheat, steal and defraud?

I agree with the statement made by Lezlie.

Ok...and most of the statement that was made by...

I can't do it.

Oh, I'll do it aka.

ItotallyagreewithSBA. (In this one instance.) And not necessarily #4 bc not all rw whackjobs are also Birchers. But otherwise.

Also the video was clearly ... something. Not informative. Clearly pushing conclusions that weren't in any evidence.

I watched most of this video and didn't understand what the guy was arrested for. I found the video very odd in that respect.

I'm not sure I get the bit about two juries being dismissed.

By the way, you can still search Open. It's not gone yet. All that's really missing are the PM files.

nerd cred, If you do any reading about the guy, you see that he routinely ranted about things like the "New World Order",  the evil "Trilateral Commission" and the satanic United Nations  ::cue black helicopters::.    Those are ALL direct pillars of Bircher-ism.   He might not be a card carrying Bircher (which is why I said "closet"), but he sure as hell holds most of their beliefs.

Thanks Amy. He's just so creepy I didn't want to read more about him!

BTW, I neglected to add #5...  Misogynist, sexist pig.    Between the lame ass "dumb blonde" jokes and the "women get ugly as they age" schtick he definitely qualifies.

"...presumably..." is the word that stands out from this video... so much is implied and very little is substantiated.  R&L
