So here's the question:
Is she correct in insisting that constitutional principles supersede.presidential politics?
Maui, we all know what should have happened during the last election , but it didn't...
Now we are faced with what must happen within the context of constitutional imperative and mandate....
If a Democrat were to be inaugurated tomorrow, I would be in favor of a vote for impeachment today....
Well, I fought for Sanders in the primaries, in the general I voted for Clinton..... but I admit, it was 7:58pm on election day and I'd driven to the election mailbox (in Oregon, all mail-in ballots) holding down nausea - like many, no doubt. Couldn't have Trump win, regardless of the rest. Too bad it didn't work.
As far as spine, yeah, online I might see both sides easily, too often maybe?? but in 3D I don't think anyone's ever considered me undecisive, or too people pleasing. The opposite, too often. Bluntness slips out before I can think. One reason I like online, gives my brain time...
What are your thoughts, Ron?
re impeachment in the face of today's reality...
There is so much our presidential jackass could be, should be, should've been already impeached for. What's the hurry now i cannot yet see clearly. Right now I'd as soon see Trump already resigned or having been convicted of impeachment. Pence is a cult member, not as cult leader like Trump. Trump is diabolical, Pence is merely detestable.
" I fought for Sanders in the primaries, in the general I voted for Clinton" was what i did too but i just can't add to that "Too bad it didn't work." because i believe if Ms. Clinton had gotten elected she would have hosted a "tail wag the dog" scenario ala Mr.Clinton where Ms.Clinton would be appeasing fascUSt war-mongering in both the Black Sea and in and around Syria and Palestine. A Republican Congress would likely have already impeached and convicted a President Hillary and had she been elected in 2016 she would have been facing a Republican Senate and House.
Anna, I repeat; If a Democrat were to be inaugurated tomorrow, I would be in favor of a vote for impeachment today....
If the Constitution is to have any meaning or value at all, it is in the fact that our political actions and activities are to be informed, guided,, controlled, and governed by the principles it evinces and embodies.
The Constitution (the electoral college) got us where we are. The Constitution (impeachment) can get us beyond this place of wrath and tears...
Adoption of the document that established the Constutional Democracy is one thing, acting on and within its precepts as the Supreme governing instrument is quite another...
To ignore the Connstitution now would be to ignore what the American Revolution was about and why it happened..
Wow... I'm still trying to get over anyone in their right mind calling Hillary a "Constitution Lover". LOLOL (I'm guessing whomever believes that doesn't think her attempts at suppression of free speech, her violations of the Emoluments Clause, etc. count.)
BTW, how dare you try to condescend towards the only two women on this site who stand up to your bullshit. Tell you what, Bubba... I get it that your community and gender isn't endangered by however it would turn out so you can talk smack about lack of "pragmatism", just because MANY of us are willing to risk our all in the name of what is right and CONSTITUTIONAL. Until you grow tits or turn gay don't you DARE accuse either of us of the same "lesser evilism" YOUR orientation and gender dish out every damn day!
As for the rest of it, deciding not to act because the Senate might not act the way you want is a textbook example of "political expediency". The House has a Constitutional responsibility to act. It doesn't say a damn thing in the Constitution about "only if we think the Senate will convict too". If ANYTHING else is done then you might as well call the Constitution "Charmen" and wipe your asses with it because it has become worthless.
" The House has a Constitutional responsibility to act. It doesn't say a damn thing in the Constitution about "only if we think the Senate will convict too" "
Amy is spot on here....
Impechment is the indictment by the House of Representatives.
As a separate and distinct act it is an expression of the will of the people re whether the President or any other high ranking official is above the law (Constitution)...
The 'strategy' need not consist of the process concluding with a finding of guilt by the Senate...
Subjecting the President to a trial In the Senate would send a clear message and cause so-called 'strict construction conservatives' (Republicans) to either put up or shut up....
This is the very reason why many establishment Republicans were against the Trump candidacy...
I’m with EW. I want to know who votes how. I’m also for getting rid of Barr.
Let the voters decide...which senators need to go. It is obvious that the Career criminal is guilty...of too many crimes to count...before, during, and after the election. Not to vote would wrong. Impeach Trump, and then try him.
