Rainy Night

When we bought the home we live in now, nine years ago, we discovered that we were responsible for paying for the street light at the end of the drive.  It only cost $12.00 a month, but I was a little irritated at the thought.  I've always been a Dark Sky kind of guy.  I've written about that before.  I like to sit on the porch with th lights off at night.  L wants all of they on.  I feel like I'm in a fishbowl where all of the creatures past the light can see me and I can't see them.  She…

Vanity of youManity

But at least we living beasts have the best,, the best, the most expensive killing and destruction mechanisms yet conceivable and doable by and to huManity....

... no greater waste of Earth's treasures and gifts could be committed lest this planet and its moon are visited again by another supernova or physical mass that renders the planet unsuitable to sustain…

gender studies Q4 2017... BOUNDARIES!

hi all. already did a "gender studies" post for this year but we are awash in massive amounts of cyber hyperventilation barrage on the subject.

the theme for this installment is BOUNDARIES.[a]

copious links collected from my favorite "cyber haunts".

not sure what astrological signs are lining up (does anyone have any idea/ clue? open to suggestions from astrologers or wannabes!) but boy this last…

poly 2017, celebrities/ other developments, copious links

hi all, 20th century icon hefner died a few wks ago.[a2] bummer! a very polarizing figure, public loved/ hated him. my feeling is that he helped launch a few revolutions but all revolutions tend to have extreme elements. its a remarkable historical coincidence/ timing with the Weinstein meltdown. my feeling, there is not a huge, unbridgeable amount of difference between these two figures, but the outcomes were vastly different.

have been piling up polyamory links over…

Wisdom without irony, bombast or dramatization

By Adam Lawrence Dyer

Don’t speak to me of “healing” racism,

or “wounded souls” or the “painful hurt”

until you are willing to feel the scars

on my great-great-grandmother Laury’s back.

Don’t speak to me of “values”

or “justice” or “righting wrongs”

until you are able to feel the heartache

of my great-grandfather Graham

whose father may have been his master.

Don’t speak to me of “equity”

or “opportunity” or the…

vegas mandalay bay shooting: early BLOCKBUSTER conspiracy angle(s), copious links

hi all. another year, another crazy mass shooting/ murder. these seem to happen once-in-awhile. wrote a large post on the aurora batman movie shooter just a few years ago. have not been able to keep up with intermediate events. to me, anything less than 911 scale is apparently "par for the course".[g] but am going to write on this current one.

the current vegas incident is distinguished in the multiple instances and excellent quality of eyewitness videos quickly…

Why don’t I pay my children for their grades?

This is a topic I should have posted about 35 years ago, when my older daughter was 14.

My daughter says the other kids get paid for their grades. She doesn’t think it’s fair that I won’t pay her for hers.

I have rules for things I pay for. I pay for services, that are of no benefit to the person performing them, but are important for my quality of life, such as paying the plumber to fix my leaky faucet. I pay for things I want and need, like groceries or new shoes. I pay for…

Staring Into the Maw of a Monster Hurricane

Along with millions of people in Florida and the Southeast I am worried about Irma.  The latest models show the track of the giant storm shifting to the west indicating that it will go directly up the Florida peninsula into Georgia with the potential to cause damage in Atlanta and beyond.

We are in the middle of beyond.…

Going Electronic and other Pieces of My Mind

I've written a lot of blog posts since I first started in 2006. Less in the last couple of years, but I've countered the effort with movie reviews on IMDb, book reviews on amazon, and lots of time shooting my mouth off on Facebook and occasionally on OurSalon. The last few months I've been reading over the best of such writing, if that's what it is, updating, editing, and…

...Just Not Today

There are those who say most suffering in the world is needless and self-inflicted, that the sin in one area breeds heartache in another, like a used car salesman who swindles his customers who is then unable to… Continue

Hate to say I told you so?

Well, for 9 years now I have been between OS and OS pointing out the obvious, that nearly half of white amerikkka is made up of a large, unwashed, uneducated and entirely hateful group of pieces of white shit. Fucking Haoles as we call them on Maui.

Weigh in, oh great writers of the Interwebs, explain away how my constant near decade long attempt to explain the Dunning School was off base.

See you in VA!

Back To The Future...

It seems no matter what we do all roads lead back to the future. Like for instance: Didn’t we "duck and cover" once already? Did we not build bomb shelters already? Where are they now?

We were watching a CD (yes, even those are now Blu-Ray CD’s…sheesh.) of the Ed Sullivan Show (the early Beatles) including the "old commercials." Huh. I did'nt know Anacin could be used to fight depression…

predatory capitalism, the unspeakable/ unthinkable

hi all, recently came across a new video interview from a few months ago from a dutch banker named Ronald Bernard.[a1][a2] heard about it but didnt get to it/ watch it until 2 nites ago. his information is incredible, sensational, critical, and incendiary. some will label it "conspiracy theory" others would label it "suppressed/ censored truth". the interview went viral with over 20M hits but there are presumably many who didnt watch the whole thing. but 20M…

Total eclipse of the sun

For months now, I've been thinking ...oh, 99% that's pretty close, close enough anyway.

I'm not so sure now. I've been doing my googling and 'they' are saying, just that one percent makes the difference between interesting and totally awe inspiring.  Life changing, even.

How many of you all are on the path, or taking a trip to…

Tomorrow, I will Start Reading Proust.

Like many others, I have been living in a state of constant vigilance since early November of last year.
