Today I decided to go through my iPhoto collection to compose a photo essay that represents what was most important and positive to me during the past 12 months. I'll let the photos do most of the talking.
Since I was having so much fun with my little pocket camera, I decided to treat myself to a new…Continue
Poet William Carlos Williams had “a non-affair with the flamboyant minor-Dadaist poet Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven.”
The New York Times Book Review
Elsa, you must not take it amiss
if I do not succumb to your fervent kiss;
I have a wife I’ve cheated on before
So it’s not because I’m true to the missus.
It’s just that—well, I don’t know how…Continue
It's time to admit it, 2013 was a blea year. Sure there were a few cool moments, Paris, the invitation to NASA, but mostly it just was. Worst of all I had a real creative block, I couldn't seem to do anything. My studio is full of half finished sculptures & I have a dozen half written blogs, including the trip to Paris & NASA, and Hawaii. Boy, I haven't written anything in a long time. So, I need to make a change, I need to do something in 2014.
In the past I did a "Thing for…Continue
December 31, 2013.
2014 is going to be very busy.
Lots of changes coming up.
Some planned. Some inevitable. Some avoidable.
There are books in a bag by the evening chair that need to be opened.
Family concerns ahead that will be difficult and time consuming.
Instruments that sit too long in their cases.
...and lots of work that must be done.
At breakfast, in a harbor side café this weekend an Irish prayer…Continue
I find myself with less time to spend online these days, I find that as I spend more time in speech and conversation with my “Offline Community”, I do so at the expense of time that I would spend typing for communication with my Online Community.
We discuss many of he same things, and in similar forms- so I thought I would carry over some of the thoughts I've had recently while with my church/civic community.
We do have “Community Leaders”. The municipal and county…

It was an amazing holiday in the neighborhood this year. Sanji informed me that we have some new tenants in the neighborhood, as I was talking to him about how one can safely barbeque in the winter. No, you are not crazy – the two things are not related in the slightest, at least nowhere except in Sanji’s head. Not that I would grill in winter, since I do not relish freezing…Continue

Tough year, 2013. For me.
It was the year my friends and I really talked like old folks when we met or phoned. First, the cataloging of new aches, pains and pills. Then, the obits.
We'd done the obits for…Continue
As I look back on 2013 and prepare the Gerbil Interactive Media Group (Gerbil News Network, Gerbil Sports Network, Gerbil Entertainment!) for a public offering in 2014, it is appropriate that I give potential investors a candid and unsparing view of our business prospects.
How’re we doing, as the late Ed Koch (1924-2013) might ask?
Koch: “What did I do to deserve this post?”
By the numbers: 1,919 followers…Continue

It seems another year has come and almost gone.
2013 wasn't a great year but it wasn't bad either, it just was like every other year before.
It had its ups.
It had its downs.
And it had its indifference.
2014 seems to have some promise; some hints of being awesome, if we all take LSD and paint pictures with our…Continue
It was a New Year’s Eve in the ’90′s
and I was at loose ends.
I decided to skip the midnight show
and go to a party with friends.…
It’s the week after Christmas, too soon for the dreaded envelope containing the credit card bill for ill-fitting and ill-advised purchases that have already been forgotten or broken, but which have yet to be paid for. I’m sitting in our little colonial town’s sponging house, waiting for the next shipment of debtors who’ve maxed out their credit lines and gone, in the words of Buzz Lightyear, to infinity and beyond.…
A Facebook friend of mine posted that sign yesterday. This morning, a neighbor who was driving past me and my dog Coqui stopped, lowered the window and shouted “How was your Christmas?”
“Great,” I lied. “Yours?”
“Very nice,” she yelled.
So, I am a liar. I am a terrible person who lies in order to 1) save my breath as…Continue
I'm not sure why but for the past month or so, I've been remembering something I wish I could forget. Two conflicts have scarred our national psyche more deeply than any other events in the history of the United States. The Civil War left virtually no degrees of separation because almost every family in the country lost someone to that conflagration. To this…Continue
It’s 11:39 a.m. EDT. I just turned on my computer, and am sipping my coffee, about to tap out my first post of the day. As I wait to be connected to the internet, I pick up the front section of the Sunday New York Times, which I deferred reading after I became so absorbed in the Men’s Fashion Supplement, which always prompts a deep, philosophical question in my mind–to wit: Who the hell wears this stuff?…Continue
