Merry Christmas!

This is a ridiculously partial list of my musical favorites. it is tough to pick..time is a factor and also picking from this particular genre -  R&B.  they have to be the full versions otherwise you miss the best, the excesses and testifying and scats and all the deep personal stuff.  Plus there's even a version of DO I DO that cuts out Dizzy entirely.  Gotta do the whole thing on these songs:

WAKE UP EVERYBODY - Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes
"teach the babies!"

THE LOVE I LOST - Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes

IT'S A SHAME - the Spinners

DANCE TO THE MUSIC - Sly and the Family Stone

WAY OVER THERE - Smokey Robinson and Miracles

OLD MAN TROUBLE  - Otis Redding

KNOCK ON WOOD - Otis Redding

CIGARETTES and COFFEE - Otis Redding

DO I DO - Stevie Wonder w Dizzy Galespie

GET IT - Stevie Wonder w Michael Jackson

RIBBON IN THE SKY - Stevie Wonder

LIVIN FOR THE CITY - Stevie Wonder

OH HAPPY DAY! by the Edwin Hawkins Singers

ARETHA and MAVIS Singing O Happy Day from One Lord One Faith Album

RESPECT YOURSELF by the Staples Singers

ALBUMS - to be played as a whole

WHAT'S GOIN' ON? by Marvin Gaye

INNERVISIONS - Stevie Wonder

I have to stop.  This is very frustrating ...I could never do this professionally - make lists like this top ten and then play songs that weren't full long versions.  GAH.

I like anything by Muddy Waters; Got my Mojo Working, Mannish Boy, Blow Wind Blow Wind and anything else.

Also; Howlin' Wolf, Evil, Ask My Baby For Water, Spoonful  and anything else.

Little Walter, Juke, Off the Wall, My Babe, Roller Coaster, any thing else

Jimmy Reed, Big Boss Man, Bright Lights, Big City, anything else,

Thee's a huge body of work in this genre!
