It's simple, really... they pander. By pander I mean that they use "specific Democratic party base" triggers to promote their agenda.
It makes no difference that I might agree with their goal, but it is the "how" that makes me think they suck so badly.
The case (one of many) that I'll use as an example is this headline:
Trump administration ponders move to make it legal to discriminate against Jewish parents
Sounds scary as hell, right? Brings up visions of Nazis, gold stars and the Holocaust, right?
The thing is this vile proposal doesn't target Jews. It targets everyone who is not a white, Protestant Christian (to include Muslim, Catholic, Unitarian, atheist, agnostic or other some other non-Protestant Christian denomination) and/or are part of the LGBTQ community.
Why Daily Kos decided to use "Jewish parents" as their poster child is pretty clear: They believe that they can influence and "inflame" their Jewish readers much more than they can their atheist, Catholic or LGBTQ readers.
Fact is Daily Kos is about as close to being a "house organ" for the Democratic Party establishment as they can be, short of actually paying their wages. That alone is enough to make me dislike them.
That they are doing a severe disservice to everyone else who is effected, and who could help make a difference (because, frankly, there are a hell of a lot more of us), is what really galls me.
What Daily Kos has done is use "Jewish parents" as a dog whistle for a select group and said "screw the rest of you non-Jews" by allowing that headline.
It not only reflects badly on them, but also on their Democratic Party "managers" who pander to the same select group and also say "screw you" to the rest of us.
...and that disdain is returned wholeheartedly.
BTW, this is just one example of MANY. This story actually was originally generated by The Intercept (at least according to the post date/time stamp on the article) and was reprinted by Daily Kos. The Intercept is a whole 'nother" can worms, but if you repost it (damn near verbatim without any accreditation to the original writer) you fucking own it!
P.S. In my opinion, either Daily Kos, The Intercept and/or Raw Stories are guilty of plagiarism. The same damn story, with only minor changes appeared in all three sites, each with a different byline/writer. Two out of three of them is a thief.
