First of all, McKenna...  stop acting like you speak for all white people.  You don't.

Secondly, I believe you DO speak for a large minority, which is mostly comprised of the faux-supporters of human rights that are predominantly the white, middle class males that enjoy white/male/straight privilege the most.  You represent the ones Koshersalaami is always saying need to be "gently sold" on the idea of "sharing (which is utter bullshit).

Because you are "white privilege's poster boy" I'll tell you something:  Either REALLY change or go into a fetal curl in a corner some place and STFU.  The black people of American, represented here by Ron, and their allies are relearning the lessons learned back in Selma in 1965.  They/we are going to STAY in your face.  They/we are going to be as loud as necessary to get and keep your "limited" attention and until you actually DO something.

In other words, we are going to relearn from Dr. King and return to his "mountaintop".  Just this time, stand by for some big ass boulders being rolled down at you.

@TM; "In  fact, it is minorities who have to figure out what to do, not whites."

This is from someone who is purported to be "making an effort".

If the matter could have been addressed and altered by black people it would have been done centuries ago....

The simple fact is that if white people don't do that which is necessary to eliminate racism in America it won't happen...

Clearly you have no clue or concern in the matter so please stop lying to yourself and others re your stance or posture against racism....

You have none..

what do we do next? i dunno, perhaps acknowledge that this is a legitimate problem and ask what CAN we do as a sincere inquiry with a desire to help. Being flippant and suggesting tiny cuts minimizes and attempts to delegitimize the issue.

...when i was poor and worked at laboring jobs I had the pleasure of have been held up at gun point several times, and once a knife was pulled on me.  I avoid tarring the entire community of black folks for the crimes of a few

"Sorry", McKenna...  but you just DID!

BTW, did you know that it is over twice as likely that a woman will be raped by a white man?  Did you know that it is SEVEN TIMES more likely that my kids will be killed by a WHITE drunk driver?  Did you know that it twice as likely that anyone will be assaulted by a white man than a black?

Sadly, none of ^^that^^ makes any more difference to you then your little "fable" does. What does mean something is that a black person is two and a half times more likely to be killed by the police than a white person is FOR DOING THE EXACT SAME THING.  THAT is white privilege, dude, and as Lorianne stated, the first step is to STFU, the second one is to actually listen to someone like Ron on how to help. (Duly noting you have never done either of those things EVER.)

P.S.  When you say "sorry" three fucking times, to three distinctly different people, maybe.. just maybe...  you 1.) don't mean a word of it and 2.) you should stop saying it because it makes you look like even more of a bigoted moron than your other words already do.  Just say'in.

btw, not ONE blog about houston and how an incredibly horrific situation is being made workable, liveable by human beings coming together and saving one another (in more ways than one).

maybe there's more to human beings than what meets the eye.

more aimless fingerpointing.

Uh, no.

Ron posted a BAV that is near and dear about a point he is the only one around here can make.  When Snarky McSnark jumps right in with his dismissive, "I'm a white male, so I don't have time for unimportant things" textbook example of true white privilege, three distinct people called him on his racist shit (and, yes...  I DO mean racist, because it was!).

Calling him on that shit might be spit in the ocean, but it is one of those teenie tiny "action steps" we ALL need to take more of.

P.S.  Way to take your buddy to task for his comments, KB.  I'm sure you are hard at work writing a smear post all about him, right?

BTW, calling standing up to McSnark's bullshit "aimless finger pointing" is edging kinda close to saying "I think there is blame on both sides,"  Keep that shit up and I'm gonna start checking your golf scores at Mar-a-Lago and seeing if your tan rubs off.  LOL

@FM; The same people who were against giving NY and NJ help during their storm related disaster, will now be asking for the help they refused to give to those states.

Hypocrisy is something  that doesn't "meet the eye" until "the shoe is on the other foot".

^... not ONE blog about houston..."

I suggest that you write and post one...
