Where is love on this Day?

When was all this blood spilled?

Before this rhyme was ever quilled

Somehow I ended up paying the price

On Valentine’s Day we should be nice,

Hoping Cupid’s arrow will strike twice

Thinking of the love once enticed

But the mist seems to roll in

And then the tears they begin,

And the sea of blue becomes like ice

When my thoughts think of you

There’s a wound deep inside

That won’t be healed with foolish pride,

At one point like a soldier I nearly died

Until finally the tears subside

But the fools we are will welcome sin

And the whole game will again begin,

Those memories restless and ready to wound

Making this mortal wish to be cocooned

Within the heart of a merciful Goddess

As I wrestle with this hopelessness,

On a day of sweetness and candy

And a bunch of roses come in handy

And upon bended knee I pray

For my friends this is Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day was created by Emperor Claudius II  who executed two men, both named Valentine, on Feb. 14th.  It is also the day that the pagan feast of Lupercalia occurred, which was celebrated by sacrificing goats & a dogs.

Valentine's Day is all about brutal death.  Not a bit of sweetness or candy to be found and the only roses are left to rot on a grave.

(Cheerful lil' thing, ain't I?)

Safe Bet, Yep just what I can expect my personal Valentine's Day to be! How about the Valentine's Day massacre there's another wondrous day in history. Nothing like 50 caliber Thompson machine guns and dead hoodlums. No wonder the hearts are red.
