Having been deployed on two twelve month tours to Afghanistan, a yearlong tour in Iraq, a few months in Kuwait and twenty six months in South Korea, I would say I have experienced a lot more than many other Americans with respect to freedom, how fortunate we are in the US and how [why] we put our lives on the line. I am not at all claiming I am an expert, but have unique experiences many people only read or hear stories about.
If you live in the United States, as you approach our Thanksgiving Holiday or any other day as a matter of fact, try to take a deep breath of free air, look up and say thank you. America is why I serve. I know I am thankful for clean disease free drinking water, not worrying about sending my daughters to school to learn, the availability to vote carefree without fear of my life, the worry free ability to voice an opinion, the opportunity to worship how I choose to, having reliable and safe transportation that I try not to think about IEDs as I drive to the store, the availability of dialing three digits and know within a small amount of time someone will be there and so on and so forth, I could go on and on.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! Thanks for reading.
