Burn his body back to ash and bone
Wait for a perfectly windy day to throw
What's left of his teeth clicking dusty gossip
Over bean fields curving under high summer sky

The red wooden fence on his land lived an enviable life
An impartial mediator between two perfectly worn running lanes
Arabian stallion against country collie every evening
Dirt packed as hard as beating hearts
A bedroom window, its brave face
Always heard everything

The couple could never agree if the sounds the runners made
Outside their bedroom wall
Were trash talk or inspirational quotes
The four of them parted ways
Some more suddenly than others
Our lost man bode his time
Until memories drug him under
His eyes anchored to the ether

Surely he prefers to be the wind in falcon yellow flowers
to a hole in the ground, dirt pushed over his head
Knowing folks would wait around a day or two to make sure that he's dead
Knowing every morning could be worse by every night
Until the sun rises blackout red to soften scorching moonlight

Unless you take stars and constellations as your only consolations
They will sail over your dry hands between sister horizon and mother mast
leaving you turning in the sheets
deep sea rolling sleep into the sky
just above and just around soil coated with a glowing, growing green cloud

That should have been "I could do it." Spacing led to autocorrect.

saludos, kosh ~

sounds to me like the ease with which you find my curving margins
there among my worries belies a natural proclivity
toward free train verse.
Once you've found it once
you're never the same

I suppose
I could start
Writing in such
A way as to make
My margins curve
Gracefully, one
Way or    the
Other, jusr

However, given my propensity
To write lengthy analytical tomes
About whatever the hell the topic at
Hand is, I would probably find it
Efficient to write in far longer
Lines, which would leave
The right margin much
Further to the right
To accommodate my
Longer lines. Otherwise
The number of returns it
Would take me to write a comment
Or, worse yet (most of the time), a post
Would reach the absurd, and the amount
Of space I would take up vertically would prove
Annoying to my readers as they slog through my
Latest tome on economics, domestic politics, international
Politics, religion, or whatever else Arthur includes in his designation
"Stink Tank" which he tells me people come by and read at my post in
Order to be nice. That being the case, I wish to let people know that I appreciate
Their magnanimity (or perhaps magnanimousness) in bothering to create the illusion
That their motives for reading my work here extend beyond the charitable. You collectively
Are exceedingly kind to spend time on my posts making me feel like I am not a complete wastrel.

There was a fair amount of flippancy in that comment, so the giggling was appropriate, but the quote is accurate. It is what you told me on the thread of the apology to Tommi and Amy post.

The education is, I suppose, free assuming that you trust the source; otherwise it could be mis-education.

I read you too.

You realize that no one here knows what you're referring to when you talk about the square, right? I think someone needs a detailed description because without one, no one will ever come close to diagnosing the problem.

Comment by catch-22 on October 12, 2015 at 12:54pm
thanks for coming back, kosh and Art. No description is needed for 'square'. Art is just trying to say he has 'come back around' because he had some tech problems (lost comments), commented here to see if a forth comment would be lost and is going off line until later. There is no problem to be diagnosed or resolved.

I agree with your earlier comments about writing style. Making those pretty margins you made takes more than just hitting 'return' when it looks right, as you acknowleged earlier. One thing among many things that I appreciate about different writing styles is the power they create. Expository and pursuasive writing (the writing style it sounds like you use here) lends power to my style(spoken word, poetry) and vice versa. I confess I have not read much of your writing here or on OS. What I have seen of your work is wonderfully unpacked. Your perspective and explanations stretch languidly along the page, winding around and between ideas, allowing the reader to climb and/or tangle herself into a vegetable garden of thought. My stuff is concerned with cadence and vocabulary and pain, frankly. A lot my stuff might sound jubilant, some of my stuff, especially the stuff I published on Open, is pretty frankly erotic. Most of the time I am writing reflects time I've spent crying, though. I don't mind, I love it. I love to feel. Add that to the fact that I am a language junkie and there you have catch-22. Not that you asked for an explanation or that I need to provide one. The baseball is gettin' hot right now so I'll be going for now.

Come visit anytime.

Art, good luck with your comments, colors and shapes. Round back when you're ready, round up when leaving a tip ~
