I have not been supportive of her. She seems to be wound up too much and always projects "attitude." Now I am more uneasy about her. Aloha bro!

Rep. Gabbard has been and is supporting the higher moral ground when it comes to Syria specifically and generally when it comes to USraeli terrorUSts' regime change subterfuge and warfare in the Middle East and North Africa.

Unfortunately, the  Hawaii State Teachers Association is either being misled and/or its membership has as a whole either misplaced its moral compass or been successfully misinformed by pro-USraeli apatheid propaganda spewed by U.S. corporatist/fascist affiliated/owned 'news' media and 'think' tanks.

Whatever is the case with today's HSTA it is clear that they have not the moral integrity they exercised when they initiated divestiture of their pension fund from U.S corporations with vested interests in support of apatheid ideology, culture and  institutions in an Afrikaner settlers' Republic of South Africa.

moki- again you show your supposed knowledge of Hawaii, its people, and its politics to be phony, a fake as your friend SBA would say.

I posted this as when I first warned of Tulsi many demanded proof. I'm not in the link business, or interested in Googling of GoDuckDucking for anyone else, this one fell in my lap because is know so many, very honorable, members of HSTA.

moki ikom, if you look up and backtrack the members of the HSTA Board of Directors (and therefore their Government Relations Committee because they are pretty much the same people) you will find a bunch of die-hard, establishment Democratic party members who endorsed Hillary last time around.

What else would you expect other then them not to endorse someone who refused to kiss the DNC's corrupt ass?  They are just toeing the party line of the DP and the NEA so that their pension fund doesn't go bankrupt AGAIN.

@Amy;   The bottom line is Tulsi isn't perfect...

But that's the nature of prime time, high stakes politics....

Comment by Maui Surfer on May 24, 2018 at 2:46pm

Tulsi is so far from perfect, but, there are certain people, who I've referenced before, that do a hell of a job with her disguise and costume. As far as SBA's so called critique of Hawaiian politics- newsflash, the Republicans nearly destroyed our culture and killed off our people by stealing nearly all the land here and then bringing in new groups to replace us as we were not about to spend our lives picking pineapple or burning sugar land ... after the ILWU wars of the 20th Century and our life or death fight to unionize (I'm former ILWU and Teamster myself) what a shock they skew Dem! Heavens! However, SBA, you are dead wrong, once again, as the people here are very smart and tolerant and this is actually the only place where Green Party candidates win and are taken seriously at the legislature. What you don't know about the Islands, and Tulsi, could fill a Lave Tube.

BTW, as a general rule, anyone, and I mean ANYONE ANYWHERE, who sides against either teachers or nurses unions immediately rises my suspicions of their true nature to HIGH. Yeah, we sure can't trust the people who dedicate their lives to helping others, rather than pretend to be accountants but still can't reconcile obvious financial issues.

Ron, I think you might be "misinterpreting" what I mean...

1.  I never thought she was perfect, but she is one hell of a lot closer than most.  None the less, she is still a Democrat so I would not endorse her.

2.  Getting "accepted" by the establishment Democrats is NOT a good thing.  They are totally out of touch with the voting public.  That also pertains to this endorsement.  It is NOT the membership of the HSTA who is not endorsing her.  That decision was made by the HSTA BoD and their Government Relations Committee.  I'm betting the membership may see thing VERY differently.

3.  Actually, IMO, going to Syria, talking to both the leaders AND the people was a stellar move.  How the hell else could she make an educated decision?  Listening to McCain and Bolton?  Or maybe the AIPAC owned Democratic leadership team of Pelosi & Schummer???  Anyone who is against Congresspeople who actually know WTF they are talking about have their own agenda.  All of the aforementioned people sure as hell do.

I don't think card counting is the same as pretending to be an accountant, but maybe.
