And there, you have it....

A clear articulation of the difference in experiencing personal racism and institutionsl racism....

Which may help certain white people get past the "I'm not a racist." dodge...

A white cop who might feel quite comfortable declaring himself/herslf to be nonracist, becomes an element of the institutional racism black people experience daily simply by putting on the uniform....

Just watch this. This is from last night on the show. Unlike the other one, there is zero comedy here.

It is absolutely imperatice that I post this video as an  separate post....With the question.

Is Trevor Noah's assessment and assertion accurate and correct?

Thanks for providing this and giving me the incentive to go further with it....

@TM;  There are people on this platform who, were they in my place, would tell you to go fuck yourself.

I'm not one of those people...

My problem with doing that is that you seem to enjoy it:

"For my trouble, I have 100 sq foot 75 year old house, an aging wife, and nearing the end of my work career."

I thought about simply PMing you about the first video, then realized I should just post about it. Two voices are better than one.

Terry raises an interesting question: What's the most important way to address the problem? One could answer: The police are the tip of the iceberg, particularly given Noah's point about the jury of peers. However, that particular tip is what's getting Black guys killed. So, in terms of action, what's the next step you suggest?

@TM; Please pay particular attention to the last line in this monologue....

Racism is a medium born out of reflexive fear that rages, flows and eddys from all directions. Some of the most viscous and destructive racism rages in Southern California among and between Hispanics and African Americans.  In the West Native Americans are still despised by many whites.  In Asia many Chinese, Koreans, Japanese and Vietnamese loathe one another and not without reason.  Thais are regarded as hopelessly corrupt and Filipinos are something less than human.  So it goes.

The difference between a racist and a non-racist human being is that racists is often unaware of the self destructive  poisonous nature of their fear and hatred.  Non-racists recognize the culture of racism that influences their own diseased perceptions of the world and they work with other to overcome that pestilence within themselves and others.

It is a chronic condition with out a cure.  We can only treat the symptoms and hope for the best.

@Kosh; With Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, and the Republicans stealing seats on the Supreme Court, I might legitimately suggest that black people arm themselves and begin to fight back in earnest...

I'd rather be alive and on trial for defending myself against a rabid, out of control, hysterical cop than be the dead, innocent victim of another racially motivated and politically and socially justified police shooting....

I know about that line. What struck me about the video happened in the middle, where Sean Hannity talks about being stopped and telling the cop he has a gun. That's exactly what Castile did.

I don't disagree.

Here's what I think will make the shit hit the fan:

Some Black guy is going to get stopped by a cop, he's going to shoot the cop, and then he's going to mount a defense of self-defense because he had a reasonable expectation of his life being in danger. If this happens, or rather when it happens, the press will explode. If that guy is acquitted, life will get way interesting.
