My oldest daughter threw up violently in the middle of the night after we had finally settled down from watching Trump's landslide. She had loved Bernie and did not want Trump. She and I went together to vote for Hillary. I could feel the pain of my generation's failures passing on to her and then on to her little girl who was sad that Hillary lost too. "Why didn't they vote for the lady, Mommy?"

I have been thinking how my mother would have reacted to Trump. She would have loved his glitter and been sad at the decadence. If she had been alive to see Trump elected anyway I think she would have been happy and that makes me re-evaluate everything I know.

The ramifications of a totally red government are sinking in now. I dont see much use in blaming anyone for this change. It is something tribal and visceral. The nastiness of Trump would have eaten anyone alive and we can second guess all we want...it doesnt change that the future is altered and we will be meaner and uglier.

Im listening to Hillary's speech and she has not lost heart. She did her best. Throwing things at her did not help. Throwing up sometimes makes you feel better and sometimes it is a sign that there is something seriously wrong. I hope we will be ok.

Yeah

I don't know what to write today

@Kosh; Try writing the truth in your own inimitable style.

Then, keep on writing it....

Yes,  the truth helps at this point.  I know we all have different kinds of truth.  I had a rough night.  I dont know how the future will look.  The red is a very violent color that is seeping into everything.  Too much RED.  I sure will miss Obama.  Bleak day...it seems deeper than any one person...the red flood drowns decency.

Trump won with the votes of white Americans over the age of 45.  It seems that the 18 year old boomers who helped elect Richard Nixon in 1972, haven't changed much over the last 40 years.  Nostradamus and REM were right and I'm waiting to hear this at Trump's Inaugural Ball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0GFRcFm-aY

I have the urge to completely clean my environment and alter my very person. I feel violated.

My friends and I have been discussing the Midwest. Why wasn't more said about a WPA style program? Why was this man left to run loose saying he's going to dismantle NAFTA and the TPP? In the Rust Belt yet... without a return to Wisconsin after the convention.

Did that make any sense?

And what about the young? The 18 year olds and up who could have made a difference?

I said this to my e-mail group:

The Millennials stayed away in droves.

Disenfranchised by the DNC, disillusioned by a woman who always did “Stand By Her Man”, they decided against voting.

The campaign was sheer lunacy. It became about entertainment only.

Why would anyone in their right mind engage themselves in that battle?

It got screwed up as much as possible and now it will hurt bigly.

The youngsters need to grab the reins, tell our generation to sit the fuck down in the wicker chairs, crank up the Fleetwood Mac on our headsets and just STFU for good.

We do not deserve another chance. It’s over.

Big cars, big houses, big vacations, big egos.

I think lots of young people voted for Clinton.  The Red Tide was formidable.

Im watching the View now.  Woopie and Joy are speaking about the vulnerable people suffering and women being dissed.  Socialism has reared its head and maybe in the next election we will see more of that....what happens next is going to be very interesting.

...blood-red tide...gonna be a while before a healing wave of cool blue...

(Ironically in Canada, red is the liberal color and blue conservative.  I had to keep translating the voting map last night...)

Cheated out of a primary....that is the cry that is going up all over.  Liberals trying to say Bernie could be President by now....I loved the guy but he didnt have the power.  Trump would have eaten him for breakfast.  A compromise would have been better than Trump but Hillary was painted as soooo evil no one would touch her.

Im still mad about it all.
