The Utter Privilege of Voting for Hillary

Voting for Hillary means that you are fortunate enough to not need to worry about, nor even concern yourself with:

1. Minimum wage. She said until very recently that 12 dollars was more than enough.  She isn't even going to do anything to promote a wage raise or a living wage at all; to believe otherwise is something beyond naive.  So this means you don't earn minimum wage, you don't have anybody you love who earns minimum wage.  So, not really your concern.

2. Employment in general - voting for Hillary?  I guess you haven't looked for a job recently.  The number of people I know who have been looking for two years or more?  Unacceptable.  Welfare?  Check this out - they have a rule you have to spend 20 hours a week looking for jobs.  Now, that's not crazy.  EXCEPT when there simply ARE no jobs.  When your local paper carries more foreclosure announcements each day than it has jobs listed. Of those jobs, most, almost all, definitely more than half (of the 10 to 20 jobs listed, TOTAL, in a county with 100,000 working age people) are driver jobs, requiring heavy lifting of up to 70 pounds.

3.  You must be secure in your home.  I am not.  I never have been.  I didn't do everything right.  But ALL THE PEOPLE i know who DID do everything right?  Who are almost as tenuously housed as i am?  All those less housed than I am?  I can't vote for Hillary, out of respect and hope for them.

4.  You must have had no trouble paying for college.  My god we act like it's a fairy tale right up there with sleeping on stars.  For fucks sake, 20 years ago California had free college, and they have it all over Europe today.  What?  OUR KIDS don't rate?  Fuck them, this is ONLY the United States, WE CAN'T POSSIBLY EXPECT to live as well as a German or an ESTONIAN?  What, thats NUTSO for us to think we could live as well?

Because, we are ONLY AMERICA.  And our job is to pay for WAR, not college.

5.  You hear what she said to AIPAC?  Was fucking bone-chilling.  That woman wants to drink children's blood and chew on old people's shinbones.  She is STARVING for more war.  MORE MIC!!!!  Her speech was MORE warmongering than most declarations of war given by American Presidents.  Shit man.  You wanna bring back the draft?  Vote Hillary!!

You don't care about soldiers that have been deployed FIVE TIMES TO WAR ZONES?  By all means - vote for Hillary!!

Prison - we'll talk about that tomorrow.

if we are REAL lucky, by the next time around we are going to be scraping the barrel so badly that i will have people telling me i have to "vote for the Party's Candidate bc he has never been accused of pedophilia!!

How low we gonna let the bar sink?  Full requirement for Democratic President, like FULL REQUIREMENT 100% percent, NO OTHER ARGUMENT need favor our candidate - "not the maniac the Repubs are pushing."

I need more.

I hope people listen to your (earlier) piece on this choice we have on Passionate Justice tomorrow (3 EDT). It's the best of its genre I've seen.

Well put. Your demographic is not being looked at carefully by the middle class or pundits in this election

I hope they do too, JW.  I think I might have a closer view of the issues I think are important, than lots of people.  I DO know several people, mostly older men, who have been looking for a job for more than two years (in a couple instances, way longer).  Now, they arent old enough to get SS, but they are too old to lift, and even the one local supermarket doesnt hire him to do stocking, even tho he probably could do that lifting, bc of the big carts of boxes they push.  These are men (the ones i have in mind) worked 23 years at one job (then the place closed), 12 years at another job (they hired a person who took a lower wage), THIRTY years (had employees and several trucks, and the economy just went down down down down till he had no employees, went through his retirement, which was a decent one, he had worked hard and saved) - they have nothing.  It's crushing to see.  They are who I mean when I say "did everything right."

Kosher, I agree.

Terry - i changed it to utter, but tomorrow's will say white, bc it is all about criminal justice, where being white matters an incredible lot.

An irony here is that many HRC voters make a similar argument, but for her:  that Mr Sanders is not as well-positioned in Washington (even were he to win the nomination and win in the Fall and despite his ideological positions and general proposals) as HRC is, to deliver on issues that can make positive differences for people who've been systematically marginalized and who are hurting, and that HRC is more likely to better the Senate and even House numbers as head of the ticket...understanding that no president alone can re-make the laws that will make lives better.

I understand they think that, but I think they are deluded.  Washington has a white hot razor-sharp hatred for her.  The racist hatred they have for Obama pales in comparison to what they feel for her.  If she wins, they will very very literally (i'll take bets) call for her impeachment the day she takes office, if not before.

Maybe instead of deluded I should say unjustifiably hopeful, which is not a crime.

We disagree on that point:  they tried everything they could throw at Mr Obama and he wound up pretty effective in numbers of areas...their hate won't overcome numbers if dems re-take the Senate and increase dem numbers in the Hse...and I think she's better positioned to help dem senate candidates, Hse, too. You could be right, of course; my sense of it is different.

But you know - it doesn't even matter.  Bc there is WAR, too.  This is a series I am doing here.  Today touched on economics.  There is still prison, and war. And JW, you cannot deny that woman has a bloodcurdling bloodlust.  "we came we saw hes dead."  I mean, that's a horrid statement from a person in her position.  The callousness there is not something I can comprehend.
