As life hurries on and time passes by

We sit and we ponder and then wonder why

Why did it happen, where did we go wrong

Life it was written to be like a song.

A song gone discordant a song out of tune

It seems we are always a bit out of true

We hum and we whistle and whisper some words

But it never comes through like we hear in our nerves

Then one day we stop, we are taken in wonder

A beautiful tune has come up like thunder

Where did it come from, this great melody

It whispers and beckons as if from a dream

The song winds around us and beckons us on

Leading us forward to new lanes and prongs

Oh beautiful tune-age from where did you fall

I'd follow forever wherever you call

What! You're my song? How could this be true?

My own little song is discordant and blue!

Oh, no, said the song, your tune isn't sad,

Your tune is the loveliest song in the land.

Come out from your musings and ponders and tears

Listen, oh listen, with more than your ears

Engage with your heart and you too will see

That your song is just perfect and so too are thee.

Nice. As a songwriter of little note (pun intended), I know the pain of trying to keep a song in your heart and in your head. Here's my take:

Sing

Everybody's got a story

Everybody's got a song

We all want someone to listen

And we hope they'll sing along

'Cause the sound is so much sweeter

When the harmony is strong

Everybody's got a story

Everybody's got a song

Every one of us is different

Every one of us belongs

So sing it like you mean it

Sing out loud and sing it strong

Phyllis this is a beautiful poem. Just beautiful.

I'm particularly taken with these two lines because they are exactly right.:

Where did it come from, this great melody

It whispers and beckons as if from a dream.

When we let it come we are sourced by a spirit a soul a muse and it is a the greatest melody!

These were my favorite lines...

We hum and we whistle and whisper some words

But it never comes through like we hear in our nerves
