If you don't agree, you are a racist, you're not paying attention, or both...

The only argument you’re likely to get from anyone sensible is about whether it’s bigotry or specifically racism, depending on how you define the targeted population, but that’s a semantics argument. This is about stereotyping and dehumanizing Mexicans.

Hmmmm...  lets see...

You got white Stevie "I Image result for heart emoji White Supremacists" Miller (think "Gerald O’Hara" from Gone With the Wind);  white Kirsti "Nazi Enabler" Nielsen (think "Scarlett O’Hara"), white Jeffie "Attorney Generals still get to wear white hoods, right?" Sessions (think "Ashley Wilkes") and white Donnie "Il Duce" Trump (who I'm sure would think of HIMSELF as "Rhett Butler"), all of which live/work in an antebellum mansion

vs.

A bunch of non-white kids who were yanked away from their parents and now live in the modern version of slave quarters (think "a bunch of non-white kids who were yanked away from their parents" because I'm sure they give a rat's ass about Gone with the Wind roles...  all they want is their freaking mothers back!).

Brings a whole new meaning to the name WHITE House, doesn't it?

Kosh, these are all brown skinned people from not only Mexico but from Central and South America as well....

If a foreseeable consequence of racism isn't stereotyping and dehumanization,  there's no such animal....

I've been calling it The Very White House.

I agree that it is not about "Mexicans". it's about brown not being down with these miscreants.

Some are saying it reminds them of Japanese internment in WWII. I say it is similar but...pause...without justification, we're not at war with children.

Amy, your powers of observation and articulation are outstanding.

However, you seem to have missed the fact that the photo consists entirely of brown skinned boys between the ages of 10 and 14...

The government has limited access to the holding areas and will permit the publication only of photos they have chosen to release for public consumption...

In an effort to minimize public sympathy for the plight of these kids,  there are no photos of the girls at all and none of the boys under the age of ten...

Why?  The intent and effort is to make the kids look like potential gangsters... M13 and all that....

This goes waaaay past profiling and stereotyping this is RACIST PROPAGANDA pure and simple...

The parallels being drawn between this and what happened in Nazi Germany aren't just apt, they're accurate....

Comment by Safe Bet's Amy on June 18, 2018 at 6:13pm

You're right, Ron...  I did miss that.

In my own defense all I saw was "kids"...  their gender really has no bearing in my determination that it is blatant racism and that it is wrong.

AKA;  "Some are saying it reminds them of Japanese internment in WWII."

Read 1st Lady Laura Bush's op-ed piece:

She agrees with the WWII Japanese internment comparisons...

APRIL 6, 2018
MEMORANDUM FOR FEDERAL PROSECUTORS ALONG THE SOUTHWEST BORDER
FROM: THE ATTORNEY GENERA(W -----:, ,
~#118"
SUBJECT: Zero-Tolerance for Offenses Under 8 U.S.C. § 1325(a)
On April 11, 2017, I issued a memorandum to all federal prosecutors entitled "Renewed
Commitment to Criminal Immigration Enforcement," in which I directed the prioritization of the
prosecution of certain criminal immigration offenses. I further directed each United States
Attorney's Office along the Southwest Border to work with the Department ofHomeland Security
to develop guidelines for prosecuting offenses under 8 U.S.C. § 1325(a).
Those seeking to further an illegal goal constantly alter their tactics to take advantage of
weak points. That means we must effectively respond with smart changes also. The recent increase
in aliens illegally crossing our Southwest Border requires an updated approach. Past prosecution
initiatives in certain districts-such as Operation Streamline-led to a decrease in illegal activities
in those districts. We must continue to execute effective policies to meet new challenges.
Accordingly, I direct each United States Attorney's Office along the Southwest Border-
to the extent practicable, and in consultation with DHS- to adopt immediately a zero-tolerance
policy for all offenses referred for prosecution under section 1325(a). This zero-tolerance policy
shall supersede any existing policies. If adopting such a policy requires additional resources, each
office shall identify and request such additional resources.
You are on the front lines of this battle. I respect you and your team. Your dedication and
insight into border reality is invaluable. Keep us informed, and don't hesitate to give us suggestions
for improvement. Remember, our goal is not simply more cases. It is to end the illegality in our
immigration system.
This guidance is not intended to, does not, and may not be relied upon to create, any right
or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United
States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

I just read an interesting quote:

"Arguments against the separation of families at the border are just recycled arguments against gay marriage, which were just recycled arguments against interracial marriage."

~ Marie Connor (my favor quote from her = "I am the gay agenda the Republicans warned you about.")
