"The reaction isn’t yours; it belongs to them. The art is yours"

Title quote by - Seth Godin

"The fear of how people will respond to you can start to creep into your work until it becomes so watered down that you become part of the echo chamber."

I think the wisdom of it applies to anybody who blogs frequently. It becomes difficult to ignore the audience and simply write for the art of it.

Just some food for thought... or maybe its just me.

"just write for the art of it...   that does get more difficult with a familiar audience.  I think of Our as a Writers Group with people who want to read good writing and are not afraid to tell you the truth about something you put out there.

Excellent advice. Since you can't please everyone, you've got to please yourself. Now, where have I heard that before???

That was a rhetorical question.

Mulling this over with coffee this morning.

Food for thought and probably the key to better writing, although I'm not sure all writing is intended as art. And blogging, by its nature, is an odd fellow--a somewhat less solitary act than other writing.

Great advice for this forum and in life, thanks for the friendly reminder

It's quite so:  most of us dance on this high-wire.

I very much agree with you.  Just because others may not agree you with your views,  it doesn't mean you should stop thinking and expressing your views.  This will add to the debate. Of course, almost everyone is on the mindset: I'm right, You're wrong.  Live with it,  and hope.

There is nothing creative about being a people pleaser.

Have a great 2013.

Gads. I'll have to get familiar with this Rao Guy.

He Views Karate Kid. No Get in Kick Mule Fights.

Mules Kick Behinds and Thighs. Groin Arena Too.

No Daydream in Kindergarden and High School.

Blogging can cause One to end up in a JailHouse.

I am thinking about Socrates and Phaedo. Sighs.

Public Executions were Forbidden on Certain Days.

Plato was ill the day Socrates was Murdered. Sad.

I Bet Plato was Too Sad To View Socrates Death.

The Guy Echecrates (sp?) Tell of Drinking Poison.

DoJ Still Seems the Same/Same. Be So Careful.

The Teller/Speaker wrote of DELIGHT and Pains.

He Delights in the Mention of Wise Man Socrates.

He'd Laugh even Watching Death Socrates's Death.

He meant that the Wise Socrates made him Laugh.

I do my thing and try to remain true to what happened... sometimes I get 15 or 16 comments when I publish a post, other posts get 5 or 6...  I admit I'm pleased when there are more than ten and disappointed when a post only garners single digits, but the whole point of my blog is to get the story told.  I was thinking that could be done in a little more than six months, but as it's unfolded it looks to be a couple more years before I'm done.  So audience or not, it looks like I'll be hanging around for a while.   There are some good writers posting here on Our Salon and I always post some kind of comment to let them know that I read and enjoyed their efforts, and it's always an honor to find Art James or Jan Sands in any comment string... I love the way their minds work.
