Have I been ahead of the curve on this stuff, or what?

This is where it gets interesting and increasingly more clear.

Trump is a thief. Always has been.

And, he's about to get caught "red handed"".

Or, should we say "Russian handed", since they're not 'red' any more?

Well, my friend, you were hardly alone in predicting this would eventually come down to a case of "follow the money". Most who are even marginally financially astute know that real estate development is a dirty business, particularly in a place like New York City. Furthermore, most people know the construction business, particularly concrete, is mobbed-up in NYC and NJ. They only thing that has kept Trump out of jail is political connections.

He has been able to skate on of his financial malfeasance when he's screwed banks and the government, but methinks he won't get off so easy when the shit hits the fan and the Russian mob is through with him.

let's see.  Red Line in DC and wasn't/isn't there one in Jerusalem?

Folks here have  shown little interest in my attempts to maintain a running narrative on Trump & Co's malfeasance re Russian money...

During the primaries I began to cobble together a speculative narrative re Trump’s connections and interests viz a viz Russian money..

Way back then I stated that Trump really doesn't want the job  of POTS just the title because of his interest in money...

My guess is that no one was more  shocked and surprised than he was when the result came in and he was declared the President-elect....

No way he and the Russians, and the Republican Party, we're prepared for (or wanted) a Trump victory....

may be.  but the Tea Baggers have certainly taken non-governance to a new low with boundless enthusiasm.  just read today's news on Mulvaney and the CFBP.  they may not have expected to win, but they've always had an agenda:  get poor folks to die early and often.

Never misunderestimate the hoi polloi's penchant for voting against their own interest. There are many reasons for this, of course, and ignorance probably tops the list. But there's also the not insignificant matter of aspirational delusion, that is to say, I support vulture capitalism because one day I hope/expect to be one of the vultures.

Comment by Tom Cordle on December 6, 2017 at 10:37am

Apropos that last charge of aspirational delusion, I had a recent conversation with a Trump supporter of very modest means who lauded the supposed fact that in America anyone can become a millionaire. What never occurs to such people is that some people, me included, have no desire to become a millionaire – or at least have no desire to sacrifice the things that do motivate them – in my case, writing and music – for those that don't – money and power. I once posed a question to a rich friend of mine: "Do you think that if I had wanted to become rich, I could have done so?" He had to grudgingly admit that was likely the case.

So what keeps so many from this putative American Dream of becoming a millionaire? I can't speak for others, but the prohibitions might include refusing to sacrifice family and honesty for financial reward. And yes, for some, the prohibitions might include stupidity and sloth, though I know some for whom stupidity and sloth didn't present a barrier to financial success. That is all too apparently the case with Cheetolini, whose only requirement for becoming a millionaire was inheritance.

That's good.

Actually, Trump is damaging social mobility. Badly.

Rich people do two things exceedingly well:

They invariably stay rich at the expense of others...The "Tax Reform Bill" is the example of that....

They keep others from becoming rich by any means necessary....

It's always been money, Ron.  "Honesty is incompatible with amassing a large fortune"...Mohandas Gandhi

But, I like, "To be clever enough to get all the money, one must be stupid enough to want it". G.K. Chesterton

Trump's problem is he's always depended on his lawyers to get him off - THIS TIME they'll disappoint him. R&R
