Some years ago my great-aunt sent me this picture of her parents, my great-grandparents, on their honeymoon in 1905 in Atlantic City:

Today I was flipping around one of those dangerous clickbait ad sites where you should never go but this link will take you there, to 75 Rare and Mind-Blowing Historical Photos,  just killin off some time, and I came across this:

See?:

Mind. Blown.

Yes, it's for sure my great grandparents. They were my aunt's parents and she recognized them. As a matter of fact, at the time I got the picture I was working for someone with the same last name as my great grandparents. (They are my father's maternal parents so aren't creds.) He looks almost exactly like this picture of my great grandfather. We compared family trees and as I recall, our great great grandfathers were probably brothers. My ancestor stayed in Philadelphia where the family had entered the country in the mid 19th century and his went to Kentucky.

God, I love the internet.

As coincidences go, that one is completely out of the park.

Wow!!!!!!!  I always liked your profile picture and now this!  Amazing!  Looks like Coney Island or someplace festive.

It's also amazing in terms of the Atlantic City detail. You can see what your great grandparents' vacation looked like

And you found a picture of your avatar on the Internet

Unbelievable

What an incredibly wonderful find my friend!

I love the 1905 detail - as it really was. And there's more in the wider shot on the internet. The one that went to the gparents must have been cropped just for them.

I was thinking maybe someone of these sites had bought up the photog's old files but then I realized this wasn't taken by that guy. So I don't know.

Z, it's Atlantic City. Always a festive place, I think?

I love my ggmother's swimming suit, too, though I wouldn't want to try to swim in it!

My mother always said I was like her or looked like her but I don't think so. But that's why I took her face as my avatar. She became a strict 7th Day Adventist.

Doesn't my ggfather look like a fun guy? :-)

The caption says 1912. Are they wrong?

Why do you think the shot is cropped? Is there a version on the internet of the picture of your great grandparents and not of the whole scene?

I'm wondering what kind of camera the internet picture was taken with, because it's a picture of another picture being taken, and the photographer in the picture - the one taking the shot you own -  is using a big camera on a stand.
