I am, I think, like that Roman emperor Quero,
you know, the guy that played the skin
flute while the city burned?

There is evil in the world
for there are men in the world
Take away humans, no evil
but leave us alive, mucho evil-
It is the nature of our collective beasts
and will be the same, until our species is
evaporated by a meteor or another one of
them there Noah floods - yup

But alas, 'tis spring time and the sun shines-
Life is good, as a little fairie once told my mom,
who in turn told me, to keep the circle rolling-
Like attracts like and I will choose to attract
the good that can be found up in here.. Yo

The walleyed pike knows no evil and even when
he is fooled by my barbed hook and dragged into boat-
beaten to death with blunt end of Rapala knife then robbed
of his flesh for my sustenance and pleasure, he will not feel
wronged.. no, it is the dance of the universe
and just as he has killed
and eaten much flesh,
he was aware, as much as fish are 'aware'
(maybe more than us---who really knows?)
that someday his fate would be to return to the earth
via my digestive tract

I will dance in green meadows with my lover
the mating dance.. aye
'tis that, which keeps the grim reaper at bay
twiddling fingers, waiting patiently as we go through
the love motions with whatever lotions fragrant
For as long as there is the smallest chance that we might be
breeding.. bringing new life, the reaper will
wait patiently for us to quit trying,
for to not wait would mean
the end of humanity
(and him out of a job you see)
which ain't happening
on the reapers'watch
(unless of course,
aforementioned
meteor)

I will laugh much and smile more at the beauty
I see everywhere I look-- will use wood raped from our
forests for profit to build things for vain over-privileged folks
for.. sigh.. profit-- green rectangles of paper that I can trade for
those precious fossil fuels that will burn hot in the gut of my
toyota four runner as we joyously hurdle down these
glorious paved highways at a mile a minute and more to
destinations sublime where we will eat whatever we want,
smoke dope and drink at least medium shelf liquor
if we choose,
because we are in fact
uber privileged . . .
. . . too

There are others whose lot in life it is to carry
the weighty burden of the evils of men on tired shoulders
--to forever type and 'spread the word' that many of us
knew already.. that there is evil in the world
For while there are men there will be much evil
and they choose to alert us..
HARK! BEWARE!!
but alas, the circle of life
still spins and I am just
along for the ride

I tend to take life a bit more lightly. I see it as a funny dream I had one day.

It is surely true we gotta deal with mother nature :

I do not consult The walleyed pike.

He is a damn stupid goddamn flopping fish, after all.

~

I got to say, you should take theology courses at yer local college.

I am a volunteer at the Forest Rape Hotline. I tell the woods, it aint yer fault, stop blaming yerself.

The woods? Are deep and dark and silent.

Yes, and yet I look into my 5 grandkids' eyes and see hope and beauty.

trig have you posted this over on Open? Make sure you send Libby a PM when you do.  I'm sure she'll have plenty to say!  BTW: I really like this poetic streak in you... though it reads a lot like scripture, so you better watch out because Jesus was a carpenter turned preacher and look what happened to him!!

tr ig the poet?  I am...    what Lorianne said.

Actually, it's quite good.  Maybe I'll borrow it for my open mike appearance in Conn. in a cpl weeks, having no poetry of my own.  And this has lots of nice concrete images and stuff.

Maybe you should do this more often.

I hope Libby appreciates what she has inspired...

Flameproof Witch.. yes, your 5 grandkids are part of the circle, are they not?

Jmac.. I posted it at open in my comments, the off the cuff versions (which actually I didn't change that much). As far as the blog though.. this will be it, here at Our, even if Lorianne said pfft..

Myriad-- after a full nights' slepp and a re-read, I agree. This IS quite good! I am certain Libby appreciates it. Please do use it at your open mike but if you do, make sure someone films it.. PLEASE

Comment by Myriad on March 30, 2013 at 9:04am

I believe arrangements are being made to film, or even live-stream.  At any rate, I'll be bringing my video camera and my personal camera-man.
