Yet another series, with unknown length, impelled by the Trumpistas. I'm going to guess that Bevin hasn't the faintest idea that he's indicting his state's redneck deplorables. And he's implicitly demanding that public school teachers be domestic violence cops, in addition to gun-totin', rootin-tootin eraser cleaners. Hillary is lookin righter by the day.

I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them. I guarantee you somewhere today a child was physically harmed or ingested poison because they were home alone because a single parent didn't have any money to take care of them.

Is that who he’s indicting? I’d look closer to home.

I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because the Governor refused to support his state’s teachers and schools to the point where the teachers were forced to strike, resulting in that child being left at home with nobody there to watch them.

Bevin (R-eally deplorable), got taken to the woodshed by Kentucky's attorney-general for those asinine and inflammatory  comments. Beshear was not subtle.

In an existential sense, I guess my personal question is, Mr. Governor, why would you rather see children sexually assaulted in their homes while they're off school than pay teachers a decent wage?

(In a related matter, Drew Curtis for governor of Kentucky.)

just saw a report that Bevin "apologized", in the sense of 'sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I meant what I said'.  talk about stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.  the Trumpistas had just managed to convince The Deplorables to give them the whole commonwealth gummint.  now this.  sheeesh.

As an uitlander, I know I shouldn't really be commenting on this stuff, but it seems to me that all indicators are pointing to the Rs singing "Dance Band on the Titanic" come November. It's worth a listen:

It really is a basket, and they all collectively found their voice in Drumpf, with Hillary, the Grandmother who sent 13 million AIDS vaccines to women and children in Africa, as their foil. She was simply pointing out that the Klan, the John Birch leftovers, the Conspiracy Tin Foil Brigade, the Straight Up Haters, the Religious Anti-Gay and even anti anything other than the never to come Rapture, along with some credulous fools, one born every minute suckers, Southern Strategy believers, and Christians who NEVER ever ever do What Jesus Would Do all live in the same basket. What we are seeing, over time, is that because their lives are built on hate they actually hate each other two, just not as much as they did a Black Hawaiian having to come in and save them from a Yankee Texan. So now they have a Confederate Yankee for Governors who don't want anyone to ever learn the lies of Reconstruction, the Dunning School, The Nadir, much less Fractal Geometry or James Baldwin to look up to as some sort of role model for how to be a total and complete asshole. To sum it up, listen to the audio of Lee Atwater in his deathbed confession, so afraid he wouldn't make it to heaven without a confession. To LBJ, and who could possibly know more about these people, and what he said to Bill Moyers (easily Googled) and then, to of all folks H.R. Hadleman as he confesses the Drug War and the resulting for profit jail system was designed specifically to lock up people of color and opponents.

Yep, a whole basket of hate and credulity, driven by fear and planned ignorance.

I will give LBJ credit for getting Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts through Congress.  a live Kennedy couldn't have done that.  and thus the Southern Strategy was born.  2010 and 2016 proved that pansy ass liberals never bother to vote, no matter how much it matters.  we'll see if they get some Religion this November.

They better haul their effete asses to the Church of the Smoldering Voting Booth or forever hold their peace.

For those too lazy, or for whatever unbelievable reason still unbelievers, ah, what the hell, here is the truth, straight from LBJ himself, the consummate Southerner who knew the Southern White Man better than any other:

As Bill Moyers relates and remembers from being on the campaign stops: In Tennessee, during the motorcade, he spotted some ugly racial epithets scrawled on signs. Late that night in the hotel, when the local dignitaries had finished the last bottles of bourbon and branch water and departed, he started talking about those signs. “I’ll tell you what’s at the bottom of it,” he said. “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

And so, you have the Trumpster Divers, the ultimate in Deplorables ... voting to literally empty their own pockets to a convicted thief who recently paid out millions to the suckers who attended Trump U.

Refusal to support public education with public funds was /is a drastic and draconian way to sidestep and avoid the consequences of the 1954 Supreme Court decision to declare segregation unconstitutional and require the integration of public schools "with all deliberate speed".

States like Kentucky, Oklahoma,  Alabam, Mississippi, and Arkansas have been dragging their feet for decades...

Now they have a sympathetic President and Secretary ofEducation . School choice vouchers, home schooling, and tax dollars to support private schools founded by religious sects that eschew and decry integration and racial equality etc...

Anyone who believes that the election of Trump hasn't set this country back more than half a century re civil rights and social justice is living somewhere in Kellyanne Conway's alternative reality...

That would make an interesting core to a post addressed to Stein voters. By claiming Hillary was as bad as Trump, this is what you cost Black schoolchildren. Do you really define the education of Black schoolchildren as a negligible difference?

As you know, I think there are two kinds of people who supported Trump in terms of racial attitudes: the haters and the trivializes (for lack of a better term), the latter being the people for whom Blacks didn’t matter enough to be worthy of consideration. This issue addresses the second population squarely. How can you claim not to be racist and vote to do this to Black children? The next election will show us if your claim to not being racist was completely phony, which matters to this population because they don’tl like to see themselves as racist.

I doubt the Democrats understand how to leverage this issue, but that’s how I’d do it, by talking extensively about the consequences of 2016 to Black children. They don’t need to call Trump voters racist. There’s a better way (I’m coming up with this as I go):

Run an ad describing what this administration and its allies have done to the education of Black schoolchildren, and finish the ad with a tag line:

Are you OK with that?
