I just responded to d.vega's blog regarding the right's take on the russian's hacking our election.  it doesn't matter much to me why, the fact remains they stuck their fingers in our system and skewed an outcome.

to my thinking, it matters not who is in office, what matters is our electoral system was tampered with and the outcome of a number of elections - not just the presidential office -  were changed.  that should concern all americans, left, right, middle.  that would concern the right if the shoe were on the other foot.

which brings me to why I have little regard for the right wing - they march in lockstep.  they question nothing.  the are hand fed bullshit and they swallow it, if not with relish, then conviction.

we all should be worried.  I don't despise trump but he's showing himself to be a fool.  and this foolishness is clearly shown in how he's handled the hacking issue from the beginning.

strategically, he should have taken the side of intelligence and defending our country's integrity. he should have gotten in front of the story, said if my election wasn't legal, I'm willing to step down, even if he isn't.  he should have taken the very visible high road.  instead he's a child, a spoiled stupid child having a tantrum because they may take away his new toy.  he's done this by not only going against but besmirching our intelligence community - dedicated people that give their lives for our country.

his collusion in this matter places the future of his presidency in the hands of congress.

all that independence and draining the swamp talk is over.  done.  he is their bitch now.

he can be impeached for colluding.  for treason.  recall those speeches, where he egged on the russians to "hack hillary"?  recall how he said again and again, HACK HER!  so if they have a mind to, and don't think for one minute they don't - they CAN make his tenancy on pennsylvania avenue very short.

but I don't think they will.  he will follow along, in order to keep the trump brand twinkly clean and lucrative and in return they will use him like a whore.  because he has a loud and obstreperous following, and because he's easy to lead around by the money and isn't as extreme or determined to destroy government as pense. pense would be a handful to a congress that strives to not look as extreme as they secretly are.

paul ryan is doing a happy dance with old mitch.

The Beast whose Name Shall not be Spoken does what it does and his mindless minions follow.   Such is life.

One of the ways they supposedly interfered was with paid trolls on social media.

What do you think the chances are that Vega is one? I followed your comment there, FM, with one to that effect. Wouldn't surprise me a bit but I'm sure there's no real way to prove it.

Ron - well said! :)

JM, he is no beast - I'd reserve that description for the likes of cheney...now THAT was a beast and a half...in fact same with putin, trumps role model! I'd describe trump as a world class knucklehead who happens to be in charge of america.

nerd...I would not be surprised at all.  he's too too up their asses.  NO ONE is up anyone's ass that thoroughly unless they're getting a paycheck for all that deep excavation.

he duped a lot of decent people with all that hype.  normally I don't mind hype.  that's politics...but the way it's going is he'll be on that tight congressional leash and I fear it's going to screw a lot of needy people royally.  it's not going to be pretty.  I feel for my country - not everyone obviously, but some of those people were believers who felt their last hopes were in the myth he spun.

KA, I think trump will not be ignored.  we can try, but he's a clown and clowns will come at you in three rings, clown cars and all, honking and screaming and pinching small children.

what is pretty odd is that so few are willing to say that the comrade-elect ought not take office under these circumstances

The papers also say that the Russians hacked the Republican National Committee, but chose not to do anything with their data. Rather, they held on to it, hoping for a GOP victory.

Guess why they did that?

Russian intelligence, much like the mafia and their Soviet predecessors, likes to put their targets in compromising situations for purposes of blackmail. During the 1950s and 1960s, the Mob and the KGB loved to run brothels and gay-clubs, and other enterprises, not only to make illicit money, but also because they were tools by which they could lure rich and powerful people, entice them into compromising situations that could be documented. Then, they would present the compromising information to the target and ask for favors, in exchange for which said damning information would not be released.

If Trump doesn't do Putin's bidding, other conservative congressmen down the line will----willingly or not.

This is only going to get bigger.

Imagine how easily blackmailed some of these "holier than thou" conservative hacks are. Imagine Larry Craig or Dennis Hastert and those scandals----imagine if the Russians found out about it first, and used the information to blackmail them. This can't really happen with liberals, because we don't care about this stuff very much. But the GOP can easily be compromised on these grounds.
