Single Sentence Saturday: About teaching a man to fish

”Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” only works if the man has access to a lake, but lakefront property tends to be expensive and lakefront property owners don’t take kindly to trespassing.

Are there no rivers and streams?

I suppose I could have written it differently and said

...only works if the man has access to a body of water with fish in it.

But only if the dog lives in a neighborhood where there are ducks

Reason liked that old saw, but, like all old saws, it is too simple. How about “Give a thief a gun and a bank is the largest target he can imagine. Give a thief a bank and there is no limit to his imagination.

“Some rob you with a six-gun, some with a fountain pen.” Woody Guthrie
