SCOTUS stumbles onto the side of voter fairness...for this case at least.

North Carolina's illegal voter suppression law was struck down b/c as the appeals court  judge said - "It targeted black voters with almost surgical precision..."  The US Supreme Court also just refused to hear this case despite the fact that that court struck down an important facet of the civil rights voting protection in 2013 on the stated rationale that "we live in a post racial society" where blacks no longer need fear voting discrimination, which led to this case of voter discrimination being created after their 2013 ruling.  Obviously the fact that ANY court of the land is having to hear cases like this one is evidence of such ongoing racial discrimination. Breathe deeply. Sigh.  Send up a prayer of thanks that the SCOTUS just did the right thing, whether by reasoning and insight or by accident.

I lived in NC for ten years. I'm thrilled to see this. They need a break.

Read about this.  SCOTUS didn't rule on the NC law because there was a clusterfuck in the appeal.  Too many morons coming from too many directions so SCOTUS chose to let the district court findings stand without any hearing or ruling.  Indiana and other state voter ID laws still stand as do hundreds of gerrymandered Congressional districts.
