I had taken this piano hammer out of the piano, glued it, then misplaced it. I thought the dog might have chewed it. I came across it today, I’ll put it in later and see if it holds up. I’ve had this Beethoven bust on my piano since I was a kid, before I was aware of Peanuts and Schroeder. So I decided to use both of them in a photo, staged actually on the open piano lid. After all, Beethoven’s eyeballs are missing, so you can’t see which way he’s looking.

As to what it means, I guess that should be in the eye of the beholder. If I were a true artist, I’d snap at you “Isn’t it obvious? The damned Philistines I have to deal with” and stalk off muttering to myself.

Ok. That's enough.

The question isn't, "what's he looking at". The question is, "what's he thinking"?
