While they're at it:

"Besides the crime which consists in violating the law, and varying from the right rule of reason, whereby a man so far becomes degenerate, and declares himself to quit the principles of human nature, and to be a noxious creature, there is commonly injury done to some person or other, and some other man receives damage by his transgression: in which case he who hath received any damage, has, besides the right of punishment common to him with other men, a particular right to seek reparation."

John Locke, "Second Treatise On Government"

"Two hundred fifty years of slavery. Ninety years of Jim Crow. Sixty years of separate but equal. Thirty-five years of racist housing policy...."

"The Case for Reparations"
T Coates, The Atlantic

An Amendment to the "Tax Reform" bill:

Be it hereby enacted and btought into law that all citizens of African descent, as defined by the "one drop" rule which was established to determine heritage,  lineage, station, status, and condition with respect to "race" are hereby, and forthwith, exempt from ANY AND ALL forms of taxation by any government entity of the United States of America including federal, state,  county and municipal governments having the power and  authority to lay and collect such taxes for a period of not less than 400 years commencing with the passage of this act in the main..

No taxation without reparation!

Gee, Ron...  I wonder which is the only political party that supports your amendment and actually has had it as part of their platform for almost a decade???  ::roll eyes::

"We commit to full and complete reparations to the African American community of this nation for the past four hundred plus years of genocide, slavery, land-loss, destruction of original identity and the stark disparities which haunt the present evidenced in unemployment statistics, substandard and inadequate education, higher levels of mortality including infant and maternal mortality and the practice of mass incarceration. We recognize that reparations are a debt (not charity) that is owed by our own and other nations and by the corporate institutions chartered under our laws to a collective of people. We believe that the leadership on the question of what our nation owes to this process of right ought to come from the African American community, whose right to self-determination and autonomy to chart the path to healing we fully recognize."

I, and a lot of other Green Party members, are pushing for us to amend the GP Platform to more clearly state that we need to also provide reparations to Indigenous Americans and Native Hawaiians.

"The only political party that supports your amendment and actually has had it as part of their platform for almost a decade is the Green Party."

Thanks for the heads up, again...

You've stated this once before on someone else’s blog...

It's good to know/have this info.

Even better to convey it in a non-toxic manner...

Thanks again....

Actually, the problem with the Greens on a legislative level is Nothing. If you can get them elected, go for it.

Which means my initial comment was pointless. Sorry.

@abg; "not everyone owned slaves

not everyone lived the good life of plenty"

It's not about what was or wasn't done by people as individuals....

It's about what was done by white folks collectively....

The United States of America became the richest nation on the planet due in large measure to slavery.

The standard of living for all white people, rich and poor, rose to become and remains among the highest in the world because of slavery....

You don't owe me a thing...

What America owes black people is another story entirely.
