One of the memes that Steve Bannon used while campaigning for Roy Moore was:

"They can't come down here (from Washington) and tell us/you what to do!

So here's my question for today:

Why is it that people who can't (don't or won't) think for themselves react the most vocally and the most  vehemently against being told what to do?

I'm not sure they do.

This isn't about being told what to do. This is about being told what to do by outsiders. This is nothing but a version of Outside Agitators

I suppose that there can be two aspects or elements ofthe question.

Being told what to do in general.

AND

Being told what to do by outsiders.

My inquiry goes more to the first aspect...

However, your point is a valid reading of the inquiry, particularly in light of the example given.

Thank you. Regarding the first aspect, though, how do you and I feel about being told what to do?

I think its the implications.

If one needs tellin', the unspoken part is that they're too stupid to figure it out themselves.

Stubborn and stupid are not mutually exclusive.

@Kosh;  "...how do you and I feel about being told what to do?"

It's the people who can't, don't,  or won't think for themselves who most strongly object to being told what to do...

People who think for themselves will frequently seek direction, instruction, and or guidance when faced with issues or problems or questions that go beyond their knowledge base...

It's called "education"....

The population of the Southern States of the old Confederacy are still woefully behind the national curve on that score, and it shows throughout the electorate and the electoral process in that region.
