The sign at the County Clerk's Office in San Francisco clears it all up:
LICENSE = $99
CEREMONY = $75
BOTH = $174
EQUALITY = PRICELESS
As I say, a very good day.
No picture of the sign?
The NYT omitted the sign-photo in online versions and I couldn't locate it anywhere else, Kosh. It was pretty drab. The color is my 'take' on it. Even in the SF papers online today...couldn't find it anywhere besides the NYT print edition.
Hey it's cheaper here in WA, at least for the license. $65. And I charge $100 for the ceremony. :)
In my recent visit to San Francisco, CA, I told my food servers, car valets and any one else who would listen as I trudged and breathlessly climbed those hills, that the court would say the federal government would recognize all legal marriage as marriage for tax and inheritance. However I didn't think the court would overturn Proposition 8 because marriage laws were state laws. Well they tricked me and sort of overturned Prop 8. I didn't visit the city hall there because I didn't get arrested. I couldn't find Castro. I probably drove through it in getting lost. Anyway, I heard Castro was still in Cuba. That marriage license must be the cheapest thing in San Francisco. 2 bagels, 2 coffees delivered to the room with tons of fees and tips: $50 not priceless. I left my hearrrrrrt and money in San Francisco!!
Rosi Heck...I'll charge $10 I have an online ministerial degree no fooling!
Roger pleased you had a good holiday!
Best coffee there's up in Marin, in Larkspur. By far.
I was, and for some while, sure the Court would hold as it did in both cases, particularly after, in the hearing, the Prop-8 defenders admitted they incur no injury from lgbt citixens being married. To sue succesfully, to get a court to take your suit seriously, you must, in ANY lawsuit, show that you've been harmed by the behavior you want stopped. Once the litigants said, no, we cannot even allege let alone show that we have been harmed by same-sex marriages prior to Prop-8, it was effectively all over.
As to DOMA, I really did believe Kennedy would see it as he did.
That's what I have! I put a lot of hours into each ceremony...
