Just read this story and it has me turning my head inside out as I consider what should be "right" as opposed to what might "work" for the Democratic National Committee in 2017 and the Midterm Elections in 2018: Ellison holds edge in DNC race survey.  In my heart I hold nothing but respect for Rep. Keith Ellison (Minn.) who in a new survey of DNC members holds an edge over former Labor secretary Tom Perez to be chosen to replace Debbie Wasserman Schultz as Chairperson.

I have all kinds of reasons for favoring Keith Ellison:  He's the first Muslim to be elected to the U.S. Congress, and took his oath of office on a Quran that once belonged to Thomas Jefferson.  Along with André Carson of Indiana, he is one of two Muslims now serving in Congress and he is also the first African American to have been elected to the U.S. House from Minnesota.  In November 2016, progressive groups and United States senators, including Bernie Sanders of Vermont, supported Ellison for chair of the Democratic National Committee.  His record after five terms in office is excellent and if he's selected as chairman to the DNC he says he'll resign his seat in congress...All great recommendations... but... and this is what turns my head inside out... he's a Muslim and after 2016 that's like pouring gasoline on a fire.

Tom Perez served as the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice and Secretary of Labor under President Obama.  He's the very successful son of Dominican immigrants, a Roman Catholic and helped the Justice Department take down Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona and took on Texas and South Carolina voter ID laws.  Though he's only held elected office in county council of Montgomery County, Maryland, his civil rights record as a state and federal Labor Secretary and progressive attorney is exemplary.

So the DNC has a choice between an African American Muslim who would almost certainly play into the hands of paranoid Tea Party loony tunes or a Roman Catholic Hispanic.  HRC was the wrong candidate at the wrong time in 2016, there's a good chance that the Bestial Nightmare "45" will completely screw up over the next two years, so who should lead the Democratic Party in the mid-term elections of 2018 and the presidential elections in 2020?

My pragmatic brain says Perez, but my idealistic heart wants Ellison.   This shit makes me crazy.

I hope there is a smokeless room somewhere, filled with the aroma of steaming lattes, with people talking of tearing down the Democratic Party and rebuilding something with vision, a New Democratic Party.

::just shakes her head::

You Democrats won't ever learn, will you?  First the DNC shoves it up your collective asses with the DWS-HillBillary clown car and you get your asses handed to you.  Now they've pulled the EXACT same elitist BS with Perez.

WTF are y'all thinking still supporting these people?  Do you REALLY want Trump to get a second term or what???

BTW, for those who are NOT so stupid as to make the same mistakes over and over...

Here is the link to end the insanity and join the Green Party.

Amy, I'll be getting back to you as to why I didn't vote Green in 2016.

“The election of establishment insider Tom Perez as DNC chair confirms yet again what so many have been thinking: the Democratic Party is unwilling and unable to reform itself.

After the blatant corruption of the 2016 election where the DNC sabotaged the Bernie Sanders campaign to clear the way for Hillary Clinton, for party elites to select a Clinton-linked insider demonstrates an arrogant refusal to even acknowledge the problems that have sent the party’s base streaming towards the exits.

It is now clearer than ever that the Democratic Party has learned no lessons from its catastrophic defeat. To build an America that works for all of us, we urgently need to build a progressive alternative that is independent of both parties of war and Wall Street.

Historically, the kind of systemic change we need has only come about when Americans have organized strong alternative parties outside the two-party establishment.

The Green Party, which practices grassroots democracy and refuses all corporate money, is a welcoming home for Americans who are fed up with both establishment parties.

The #DemExit was only the first step - now it’s time for a #GreenEnter.”

No excuse for it, JMac.  You believed the DNC "scare tactics" BS so own it.

All you can do is do it right from here on out.

The DNC turned out to be right about the scare. If anything, the alternative is worse than predicted.

And Perez isn't exactly Hillary.

Just think - with all the exactly correct, idealistic and ideological "reforms" the dems could start winning elections like the greens do.

Blow it out your ass, KosherBaloney.

Sanders was beating Trump in most every poll and Hillary wasn't.  Hillary, aided and abetted by her fellow elistist assholes in the DNC, scare mongered and manipulated her corrupt ass into the nomination.

Then SHE FUCKING LOST to a total clown!  (and Perez, like the good establishment lackey he is, was right there supporting her corrupt ass, so blow that along with the rest of you BS).

Bottom line, like true centralist, Democratic establishment ass kissers, you are ONCE AGAIN proving your insanity.  Good luck with that.  When this happens all over again, because you refused to own your own shit, and refuse to change, you'll have to own being responsible for Trump's reelection, just like you are for his first one.

...and nerf crud, I'm just ignoring you from here on out.  You are too stupid to contribute anything other than cheap shots.
