Perpetual Illusion

Living in the perpetual illusion of forgotten promises

I could go on forever lying to myself in bliss

Tossing and turning in the cold dark night

Always the same outcome when wrong becomes right,

Promises of love not quite not quite

To be believed hard as I might,

Not quite like an out of body experience

It’s been much too long since

There’s just this useless reminiscence

No more of those fantasies from adolescence,

Dreary skies eyes that cried failed but tried

Couldn’t ever say that I never lied

Under the illusion of love once paralyzed

Trying to move on might as well be petrified,

Promises of love not quite not quite

To be believed hard as I might,

When the heartbreak is never out of your sight

When alone in the darkness is your plight

Words of soothsayers so contrite

The mirage of love shining ever bright,

Living in the perpetual illusion of forgotten promises

I could go on forever lying to myself in bliss

Tossing and turning in the cold dark night

Always the same outcome when wrong becomes right.
