One Sentence: I come up with a new slogan for the Republican Party (inspired by Terry McKenna)

If you can't afford it, you don't deserve it

sounds fair (and balanced)

By the end of last night's charade we were all at a Tent Meeting.

I didn't watch the charade. There were cooking shows on. Then I watched most of Jon Stewart's farewell show. But I heard some of the commentary this morning, all about whether all these Republicans are going to care that Trump isn't loyal to their party.

No. They won't. They don't love their party either, and they sure as Hell don't love the candidates in their party. If anyone in the party was, from a political standpoint, loveable, or inspriring, we wouldn't have the forty five candidates for President we have now or whatever the Hell the number really is. What they have is anger and Trump is genuinely angry. They're fed up and Trump is fed up, and he'll say so. Right now they like that. It's how some of them felt about Christie before they figured out who he really is.

Boy did the commentators get that wrong. I agree w you. All his supporters want is a guy they think can stomp Mrs Clinton to death. His content hardly matters. His message is not content; it's style and if he loses support bc of his misogynistic comments (there were more than one) I'll be surprised. Rubio will move up; Trump will remain in the lead.

He will not lose support because of his misogynistic comments. That group of voters hates PC and they love a guy who refuses to knuckle under to it.

What we're running into is the classic problem that winning your party's nomination and winning the general election are functions so separate as to almost be divorced. The party's nomination is about who appeals to the activists closest to the fringes while the general election is about who people trust to actually run the country. Trump is successful for an analogous reason to why McGovern was, only McGovern was not a wing nut, he was a Middle American WWII combat veteran who devoted his life to public service. Trump, on the other hand, is Perot without brains.

Don't get me started.  One sentence won't do it.

That sentence says it all.  Selfish and mean.  They all need to eat some humble pie.

Sounds to me like truth in advertising.  If they play it right and hire Don Draper as a media consultant, they might even pull it off... nah, not really.  I always thought that Christie had a fair chance to go after all those pissed off white men, but with all the free publicity that the lame stream media has given to "The Donald" it appears that he might have an actual chance to get the nomination.  I hope he goes down in flames in Iowa and New Hampshire and then decides to run as an independent.  That would ensure a victory for Hillary, unless of course the side effects from the drug cocktail that the CIA has been secretly feeding her goes wonky and she dyes her hair green, jumps up on stage naked at the convention and screams, "I've been a closeted lesbian since Bill and I were in college!  I screwed up Benghazi under Obama's direct orders to seal a secret alliance with al Qaeda and ISIS, and I just absolutely hate poor fat dumb white women!"

Then it's Clinton, Perot, no Bush???  Wooo hooo welcome to 1992 and the way back machine!!!  I do love the historical accidents of American presidential politics... R&L ;-D

You want to know how much truth in advertising is involved? Like when I wrote a spoof a few years ago about the Coporatist Party of America (CPA) and it became so true that it didn't seem like a spoof any more,
