One Sentence for a Friday: On Republican morality

Republican morality is based on the proposition that it is less of a sin to allow a poor person to starve or to get sick without medical care than it is to allow someone to freeload.

Republicans of today have morality. There are either accidents of birth who don't have to worry about food and housing or hating (or a few just scared for no reason) credulous fools who follow the LBJ quote to Bill Moyers.

During The Big Depression, also started by their deregulation nonsense and made worse by Hoover's garbage "policies" a gap formed between the real go-getters who would find a way, any way, to support their families while others, who simply weren't as informed or lacked the type of attitude it took did in fact want some help. So, we should have let them all die because they weren't type A alphas? Since then this bullshit, which no longer has any place in society or fact, is used to try and destroy FDRs Net. If it happens, there will be riots in the streets, the Repukes will be run out of town on a rail or live in heavily guarded gated communities for as long as their wealth will support it, and the country will resemble Escape From New York, and Drumpf is no Snake Blisken, he's a fat pig and an evil idiot who is about to try and subvert the Constitution he supposedly prays to in order to keep his scumbag Donnie Jr. out of jail. These are bad times, until the Nixon/Wallace/Buckley crew die we should seriously consider cutting the South and MidWest off of the Country itself, all they do is leech and distribute firearms to crazies. That's more than one fucking sentence, we're sentenced with their hate, prejudiced and utter ignorance and stupidity.

You want to reach out to them, I want Sherman to march again.

In the view of Republicans, the sin is being poor or sick and that there is no sin at all in freeloading if it takes the form of unearned tax breaks, abatements and writeoffs...

True. It does depend what kind of freeloading. Rich freeloading is OK.

I don't see the morality in anything that's happening.

The obvious contempt for the poor, the disabled and minorities displayed by Trump and the GOP is appalling but not surprising. All of the nefarious moves in the many states disenfranchising certain voters are symptomatic of this attitude. Former Rep Alan Grayson was on to something when he claimed "They{ [GOP] just want you to die and get out of the way!"

Of course you don’t. Their priorities are too different from yours. They are angered deeply by things that don’t anger you much at all, and you are angered deeply by things they don’t give a second thought to.

Obviously, none of these "conservatives" have read the Constitution,. The Preamble states in very plain language the two main purposes of this government: "to provide for the common defense and [emphasis added] promote the general welfare. If healthcare doesn't qualify as general welfare, what, pray tell, does? Most Americans have never been taught that these obligations go with citizenship.

On a related subject, I find it reprehensible that so rnany evangelicals are single-issue voters, to the exclusion of all else that is morally required. They insist it is their duty to protect the unborn, but ignore their obligation to provide for that child once it is born.
