Finished this today. Dunno what to call it. It's a grown up version of Dr. Seuss's " To Think That I Saw That on Mulberry Street"
Nice! I really like the dark, the smoke swirling, the light reflecting.... just thinking how few 'night' paintings I see - and how cool yours is. But I like the dark, the night, the smoke swirling..... anyway : )
Really glad to see you here, Veronica : )
...and how could I leave out the deeper layers evoked with inclusion of the dragon? Excellent addition : )
I like this. It evokes Hopper -- and in another way, Weegee -- for me. Maybe it's the grittiness.
Thanks for stopping by Anna, Terry & Boanerges.
I like the reflective sidewalk and how little the streetlights interrupt the black sky
You achieve Edgy and Warm at once. That's rare and excellent.
Thanks Kosh and Jon. The painting was inspired by a b/w photo I saw on line of a street in So. Philadelphia circa 1980.
Good painting, very invocative I think. I wish you success and satisfaction with your art.
I like Jon's comment of 'edgy and warm.' I agree.
I am curious about the dragon - to me it seemed at first like a nod to the night and vices and the sinister joy of 'taking down' those who indulge or even just walk in the dark.... but with a re-look, I'm not so sure and now see a more whimsical version as you stated with 'Mulberry St.' nod.... but I like the painting just as much.
Curious what you were thinking about.
