When I was a kid, I learned this poem
About a bald-headed man with a toothless comb
Don’t know why, but it stuck in my ear
With other little ditties like this one here:

One bright morning, in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back, they faced each other
Drew their swords and killed each other

The deaf policeman heard the noise
He came and shot those two dead boys
If you don’t
believe me, ask the blind man
He saw it all

Now, I might be blind, but from what I see
Things are just as senseless in reality
We’ve all gone crazy with our false pretense
Makin’ and doin’ what makes no sense

Like bigger bombs and elective wars
Coddlin’ the rich and screwin’ the poor
Greed and guns and slaughter in schools
The Titanic is sinking … it’s a ship of fools

When I was a kid, I learned this tale
About a prophet born in a far-off vale
One bright morning in the middle of the night
Who would bathe the world in Eternal Light

Now, I may be wrong, but from what I heard
They hung that prophet for his simple words
And instead of following the Sinless One
We put our faith in money and guns

Might be the perfect poem to frame between Christmas and New Years.

Does it have chords and notes or is it actually a poem?

That old ditty popped in my head this morning before I got out of bed, and I started thinking about how crazy it was -- then I realized reality was even more surreal. When that light goes off, you know it's worth writing down. Not a song yet, but I suspect it will be included on the new CD I'm working on called Americana.

Putting faith in money and guns...Wrong path for sure but they don't want to hear that.  Sigh.  Thanks for this post.  Better New Year.

We're fooled into believing.

Politicians promise to make the lame see and the blind walk.

That's all they deliver.
