The silver lining in the dark cloud called Trump is the acceleration of the eventual acheivement of a national epiphany and collective catharsis in the matters of human equality and social justice.

Question:

Are there people who voted for Trump that can see the errors in their thinking and now regret
having voted him into office?

How could there not be?
But until/unless things start to affect them personally, I don't think most folks will speak up about being wrong. Most people vote their own interests, if they vote at all. Perhaps this will include bringing more voters to the polls to register their dissatisfaction.
Things HAVE to happen faster and sooner than that, though. It does seem like a galvanic response is underway.
The current presidency is a direct result of the state of our country and our government- perhaps some good will come out of bringing this festering pimple to a head.

Maybe, but they are few, far and in between.

What I think you, and many pollsters, may be seeing is the Independents, (real) Progressives, a few libertarians and even a few left leaning Demexit Democrats coming together to say enough is enough.  Between all of them you have a HUUUUGE majority of American voters, so the midterm elections will be a rude surprise to a bunch of incumbents me thinks.

This is good because the Republicans are all playing duck and cover hiding from their respective failures & FUBARs and are totally ineffectual. (note:  I include the staunch members and supporters of the Democratic "The Russians did it!!!" Party as Republicans because they are...  they just won't admit it.)

If there are such people, it would follow that they see the error of their ways only in so far as the policies and plans of the idiot in charge negatively affect them.

I'm not that confident in the midterms. Way more Democratic Senators are up for reelection than Republicans and the DNC's centrist candidates have all been losing in the special Congressional elections.

I'm not that confident in the midterms.

You shouldn't be, but I am.

Trump got elected because people were sick of being screwed over by business AND government.  He promised to fix that, but actually made it worse.  That "trend" will equate into a LOT of people being totally disgusted with the "status quo" candidates that are/will be offered by the DSCC/RSCC and they are going to vote of anything or anybody who offers change.

The required change isn't that much, either.  To COMPLETELY change the word will require 6-10 people total:

The Republicans have a 52 to 46 majority in the Senate, with two Independents thrown in (who often split to it usually works out 53 to 47).

It takes a 51 vote majority for the Senate to pass anything.

23 Democrats and 8 Republicans are running for reelection.

SOOOOOOO...

If the Green Party/Peace & Freedom Party/Libertarian Party/Who the hell cares! Party, etc. can unseat 3 of those Republicans (which is VERY possible in AZ, FL and OH), plus 3 - 6 of some of those Dixiecrat, stealth Republicans who are running as Democrats again...

Then neither party can achieve their goals without "dealing" with the Independent Bloc, who is going to hold EVERYTHING up until concessions and changes are flying like confetti.

I'd love to see it.

So are you running for Congress on the WTHC! ticket?

Comment by Ron Powell on August 21, 2017 at 1:26pm

If Amy got a nomination to run for Congress, I would love to work on her campaign, if I could get relocation expenses paid and a modest stipend to cover the costs of living while doing so....

I'd be pleased to work on Amy's campaign. I'll be her outreach person to the Jewish Community.

@JW;  I meant no jest. My offer is in earnest...
