In my kids' high school, a teacher made a misbehaving girl stand in a corner in a wastebasket, told her she was trash and was otherwise rude to her. It upset the class. The teacher was summarily fired. I don't remember what the racial makeup was.
The SC cop needs to be fired and the girl's parents need to sue the schools.
Note that when the white kid in MI was killed, the parents filed a wrongful death suit quickly after the prosecutor copped out.
That action on a wide scale might be effective. An organized cadre of lawyers, preferably black and wicked smart, for the optics, that swoops in like Al Sharpton every single time a black person does at the hands of the police. (That phrasing intended to extend to cases like Sandra Bland and others whose deaths aren't public and highly visible.)
And they bring suit, with juries whenever possible, never gagged settlements. I think big hits to the pocketbook is what will make police departments start training and screening their hires - the taxpayers will insist.
Peter's notes seem over the top to me. Re white folks marching on the police - i won't hold my breath.
