Friends,
I'm pleased to tell you that a small, respected press, a midwestern book publisher, has offered to bring out a first book of my social justice essays, between sixty and seventy-five pieces. We've chosen about forty so far. Over the next weeks I'll be selecting the others and re-editing, along with a professional editor's keener eyes, the balance of the pieces we'll include, and I'll arrange the essays thematically.
While we don't have a publication date things ought to move fairly swiftly once re-editing's done. The collection will be available in bound book and e-versions, available in bookshops, online, and on e-devices.
An irony I'm confronting is that while fooling about with good title possibilities for my individual pieces has never seemed too tough, I've no clear sense yet (aside from wanting the social justice theme to speak from the cover clearly) what I'll title the book. I'll get there.
Trust me when I tell you that I am immensely grateful for your own writing (here and elsewhere), for your reading my pieces, and for your challenging comments. None of us, particularly those of us with strong opinions, grows from agreement-only. And thanks, in advance, for your continued reading here and elsewhere, and for your comments as we all continue to write.
Jon
