Like a Chessboard Pawn

Daybreak is here and tomorrow may never come

Love is the heartbreaker fear of the total sum

I keep holding on just holding on keep holding on

Until the break of dawn, memories hang on.

I keep holding on like a chessboard pawn

It just goes on and on until I think it’s gone,

They say the seas will rise the moon will fall from the sky

One thing you can’t deny despite the political lies

That I keep holding on just holding on till another day

Dreaming of another way dreaming of sea swept bays,

Blood flows in the wishing well let me rest for a spell

While I keep holding on always holding on

Surprised at the little man doing what he can

Women who stand and fight in the fading light,

I keep holding on like a chessboard pawn

It just goes on and on until I think it’s gone,

When your day is night and things don’t feel right

When the magic of stars just flicker out of sight

I’ll be holding on until the break of dawn just holding on

Just one more day until my last breath is gone,

Somewhere there’s a song from a whippoorwill

Where cemeteries of fighting men lie still

Regardless of tears or the morning chill

The cries of casualties are always shrill,

I keep holding on like a chessboard pawn

It just goes on and on until I think it’s gone

They say all’s fair in love and war

Just broken hearts, blood, and gore

Some people just can’t take anymore

While up in the sky an eagle soars,

Love makes you let your guard down

Maybe your floating body will be found

And you may hear that final sound

While I keep holding on just holding on,

J. P. Hart Hold Your Head High by Argent one of their most famous tunes but definitely not their best work. That's pop music for you but beats the hell out of rap and hip hop though.

No. 'Twas the echoes of my mind those Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethons when he'd close with 'When You Walk Through the Storm'. True, I know not much of Scripture or Shakespeare, and I dreamt well of Scarlett O'Hare with scarlet ribbons, never make her sad, it's been sad and said, all this with a subtle self-preservationist-like-arrogant-narcissist's fear of fail of never going beyond poignancy-for-the-ages of a script such as Cool Hand Luke.
As one successful author to another, Doc V, I strongly suggest Charlie Rose's spectacular hour with Quentin Tarantino and and
William H. Gas (Life Sentences).
Right now, I am trying to plow through the 'four acres worth' of Hamlin Garland's Man Travelled Roads. Legend has it that my great grandfather, Christian, and HG were good friends. Anywhowhatwherewhen & howL:i ked your Like a Chessboard Pawn

Let us recall the prophetic words of Arthur C. Clarke who as a scientist established the first plans for an orbital communications satellite in 1948. The US did not launch a telecommunications satellite until 1962 with the Telstar satellite! Let us recall his observation about God, " if there indeed is a universal mind, must it ne sane?" and Shakespeare, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." We cannot conceive of God's rationale.
