I just felt an Earthquake tremor here in Los Angeles & it was stronger than most of them.

Looked it up immediately (luckily my computer worked, right?) & saw the epicenter was Channel Islands Beach, California

Must be nice to visit - but wouldn't want to live there. ha ha

What was I doing that was so important in the scheme of things?

What will I do differently now to make my life more meaningful?

What would YOU do & change about your life?

This is one of those Open Calls for comments things - feel free.

I do not have any sense at all Marilyn. I'm in the process of moving to the coast. The previous owners left a sea kayak behind. I better get to practicing.

There was an earthquake where I live in the Midwest several years ago, it was a bit surreal to be sitting at my desk on the third floor of an old building and feel it sway. I didn't change anything but the feeling of "outofcontrolness" still lingers.

i wonder what the tsunami history is the L.A. area; i understand that from Crescent City north and around the rim to Japan, there have been some huge tsunami.

of course there's plenty of links to quench such wondering:

None of this is about your question. My experience with earthquakes consists of being goosed by my couch during an aftershock in Columbia, MD. The earthquake itself, I think 3 on the Richter scale, hit Columbia while I was at work in Silver Spring. We didn’t feel it in Silver Spring.

But you want to know about changing lives. I don’t have a good answer. I do what I can to take care of my wife and daughter. I sometimes remember to try to be less of an asshole here.

There’s more than one kind of event to trigger reflection of that sort. I spent this week attending the funeral of my younger sister in law in Ohio, dead of cancer, returning home last night after driving all day. She was a schoolteacher and she had a long procession to the cemetery, even during her school’s spring break.

In that area of Ohio, people driving the opposite direction pull over and stop when funeral processions go past, so we saw lots of individual cars pulled over. The police blocked some intersections for us. I drove past one policewoman out in the cold standing outside her cruiser at attention in a salute to the procession.

Who will miss us and and why?
