JM Emmerling on Artificial Intelligence 5 SEPT 2015

'Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence exhibited by machines or software. It is also the name of the academic field of study which studies how to create computers and computer software that are capable of intelligent behavior. Major AI researchers and textbooks define this field as "the study and design of intelligent agents",[1] in which an intelligent agent is a system that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chances of success.[2] John McCarthy, who coined the term in 1955,[3] defines it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines".[4]'

Stephen Hawkins passed at all hours and again it's Pi Day. Typing this as James Mark Emmerling would certainly have had ever so much to say, and quite prolly would have been gainfully employed with Space X at this juncture.

You're on our minds! Would you kindly call in some favors and rush the Rustbelt spring?

Hawking, because he was immobile used his natural intelligence to create the artificial or models of space, which gives meaning to: Be Still....  AI has its benefits, that is if the birth rate is allowed to drop.  But this will not be allowed to happen in the US because the right-wing religionist want to control women's bodies.  They claim to love babies, but they actually hate children because they need food, shelter, schooling, and clothing.  But if AI keeps its promise of self-driving etc. And the bosses don't want to train workers, what happens to the surplus population.

Maybe we need another Hawking to figure that problem out.

Hawking was a genius, following in the footsteps of people like Alan Turing, one of my all-time heroes, and pushing the envelop even farther out. I was sad when I learnt he had died today, but surprised he lasted as long as he did with such a debilitating illness. A brave man.

And JME will always have a place in my heart.
