Kosh. both links show a 404 Error. Russian Hackers????
These are the links, but don’t read without your blankie.
Less dismissible as conspiracy theory, because it’s the Southern Poverty Law Center:
Thank you, Greenheron.
Thank you, Greenheron and Token
I'm inclined to more skeptical of theory of the guy on medium. Those links were posted on jezebel this afternoon so they'll probably be more viral tomorrow. But the SPLC has enormous cred and they aren't speculating.
For the heck of it, I googled 'Steve Bannon + gin blossoms' the other day. The results supported my view that he's a raging lifelong alcoholic, living between hangovers and drunken binges. If you've lived with or known alcoholics, you have an inkling of the psychological terrain. It's not pretty.
Sure, but there are things to wonder about. One is the replacing of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs with the White supremecist on the security council, the more important one is the field agents obeying the President and disobeying the courts. That is the single scariest thing in the last week.
I’m not saying the medium guy’s theory is without merit, or else I wouldn’t have added the suggestion to get your blankie before reading.
I liked this article from WaPo that focuses on the facts and concerns. The author is a prof at Fletcher School of Diplomacy at Tufts, which we Tufts alums know as Spy School.
Trump IS dangerous, but his "base" is not that loyal. I voted for him, but only to prevent the entrenchment of EITHER (in this case Democrat, in 4 to 8 years republican) major party. To me, the dangers inherent in The Donald are the dangers inherent in an Imperial Presidency. You can't govern and keep the nation whole when half the country hates you and must be coerced into "obedience". Didn't work for Obama, isn't going to work for Trump.
Trump hasnt had 15 years to put together a fanatic following (as did Hitler)- He's more like Casey at the bat, and I think he knows it. He doesn't want wealth and power, he has those. He's after a place in History as a GREAT leader.
The danger he represents isn't so much that he's going to hijack the ship of state, it's that he doesn't know how to steer it (Along with Carson, and as opposed to Clinton who kows all too well how to steer and whose purpose was to "Hijack"....
kosh - I read the coup article earlier today and followed Yunger based on it. That one seems very right and very scary. The other - I'm more skeptical. He's dramatizing a bit much.
It is unquestionably frightening that he's got politicos in key position that historically have been occupied by people of knowledge and expertise. It could be his insecurity - wanting personally known and trusted people with him. It could be his megalomania - Kelly and the CJC intimidate him. Or they intimidate Bannon. And it could be laying the groundwork for the assumption of unpresidented presidential power. i.e. a coup.
Then it would be up to us, the people. What we'd do, I don't know. Do I look like a leader?
Reading, I had visions of both trmp and Bannon doing a perp walk out of the White House.
I couldn't read heron's link - the WaPo paywall. I've deleted their cookies but it takes a while to reset. Or - sometimes they've gotten all clever and I have to reset my IP address. That not until tomorrow.
I read something the other day that said the judge had sent federal marshals to enforce her ruling. I don't know if it's true or a rumor. You be the judge: https://goo.gl/rEeykZ
heron - my first daughter is a Tufts alum, too! '92 Good school.
And I followed Yunker's admonition about cute animals as well as read the articles! This is for you, kosh.
I almost forgot - the truly scariest part, from the coup article:
On Wednesday, Reuters reported (in great detail) how 19.5% of Rosneft, Russia’s state oil company, has been sold to parties unknown. This was done through a dizzying array of shell companies...
... the much-maligned Steele Dossier (the one with the golden showers in it) included the statement that Putin had offered Trump 19% of Rosneft if he became president and removed sanctions. The reason this is so interesting is that the dossier said this in July, and the sale didn’t happen until early December. And 19.5% sounds an awful lot like “19% plus a brokerage commission.”
