i'm panicking again. please tell me why these recent emails won't torpedo Hillary and what any of this has to do with Weiner's Dick Pics.

please write something brief and very very clear and easy to follow and comforting and encouraging and is this going to happen every day until the the voting day. i can't even call this an election any more. this is just a giant ClusterFuck. Fubar. etc.

it's so fucked up, of course, because if any political figure's emails were subjected to this scrutiny, well, it would not be pretty either.

i know i'm very very very not alone in feeling this way. people are going nuts all over this country and probably overseas as well.

and of course drumf has some sooooo many thing that are so much much much worse than this.

please tell me if there is hope and why. i can't bear to see him smugly celebrating.

why does julian assange hate hillary so much?

Short and sweet...we will be ok.  The emails were just in the Dick's laptop so she could copy them and give the printouts to Hillary for work.  Nothing earthshaking unless you listen to Trump.  I try not to but it if fascinating.  Anyway, I feel scared and overwhelmed too.  Politics has always been dirty...thanks for checking in.

Because it's all so much bullshit which is what T is full of.

This is nothing to be afraid of. Hillary in a landslide.

Julian Assange just hasn't been getting enough attention lately.
He doesn't give an old, cold shit about Hillary.

Assange probably hates Hillary because he has ties to Putin and Putin is basically afraid of her. Understand that there is a huge difference between Assange and Edward Snowden. (Manning worked with Assange.) Snowden was at least initially interested in getting the US government working by the standards of its citizens while Assange was just about embarrassing the American government.

There is more than hope, but it depends on hope for what. This batch of e-mails is actually less dangerous than the last one. They were e-mails printed by Hillary's aide for Hillary and we're not sure that Hillary even wrote any of them. The aide is married to Weiner.

Back to hope for what. Even if this does damage, it is highly, highly unlikely to do enough to get Trump elected - he's just too far behind in the electoral count. The problem is that the more Hillary wins by, the more her coattails get Democrats elected in Congress. If she does well, the Democrats probably capture the Senate. if she does screamingly well, she could also pick up the House. That's the main problem with E-mail Two.

By the way, this whole issue is being publicized because the FBI Director is covering his ass at Hillary's expense. He is, I believe, a Republican to begin with. The Attorney General is furious he did this. It isn't normal procedure to announce that you're looking at something. There is nothing in the statement other than that he's looking at the printed e-mails - there's no evidence at all that there's anything bad in that collection. And the email question was not "reopened." This is not the same issue.

1  HRC will win.

2 Ms Abeden used her husband's laptop to send email to HRC. her husband is disgraced former Congressman, Anthony Weiner. The FBI had already been investigating him for sexting under-age girls.

3 Since Abeden's email to HRC turned up on his computer, in what lawyers call 'an abundance of caution', they decided to see if the emails she sent to HRC might relate to that earlier email case which, the FBI concluded, involved no criminality but sloppiness on HRC's part.

4 The FBI has not read, yet, the emails and they may be duplicates of emails from the earlier case, In that event, they're prt of a case in which it has already been determined that no riminal charges could be filed.

5 Even if some of Ms Abeden's emails are interesting to the FBI, no determination of wrongdoing on ANYone's part could possibly be made in the next ten days.

6 What FBI Dir. did (comment on this just prior to election) not only flies in the face of precedent, but, apparently, he had been given specific instructions from the Atty General not to discuss cases publicly this way.

7 FBI Dir is under intense pressure from HRC and Repubs to explain things further very soon.

thank you, zanelle, thank you nerd cred. and, as always, kosher, thank you for making this clear to me. i'm still terrified but at least i know there could be a chance. what comforts me is that her electoral votes are so much higher than his. and the word seems to be that she will win important states that are coming up. the fbi director is a freaking asshat. it's so creepy. and i'm so glad that the AG is raging. i'm actually more worried about the obamacare thing. the co-pays going up or whatever. but my hope is that, like me, hillary supporters have her back. and that this bullshit is not going to sway any of us. especially we women, who are probably most of her base. we know that Trump has to be beaten. whatever happens after that, well, it will happy. his supporters are not going away. they will make life a living hell for everyone "when she wins" everyone. the regular GOP as well. but we need to get her elected.

what scares me the most is that so many people i know who are smart people are just not voting. the only comfort is that they seem to have never voted. which i can't comprehend. but free will and all of that.

we vote here by putting our ballots in to a box at the library. and getting there is a big ass deal for many of the seniors here. so i'm going to offer to take their ballots to the library for them. eliminate some of the reasons for not voting. this is all a huge deal for seniors but they are not well informed here. medicare, social security, every social program is at risk if Drumf wins. so we will see. but it's a small thing that i can do.

8  The real downside is that it places media/voter focus on her; she does better in polls when focus is on Mr Trump.

9  We'll know by Tuesday or Wednesday whether or not this has affected polls in key states, and if so, if there's what appears to be the start of a trend (either solidifying or diminishing HRC's lead).  There may be no change at all bc people have for a long while decided what they think abt the email issue.

10  If he benefits from this it'll be bc some Repubs who have stayed away from a decision to vote for him my now feel freer to vote for him.

11  Hillary has some real options here, the best of which is (assuming she knows that nothing in the 'new' emails suggests criminality) to insist strong and loud that the FBI Dir come clean abt what this is all abt...or he should resign.

12  She will win.

This batch of emails has nothing, apparently, to do w Julian Assange or WikiLeaks, but the motivations Kosh speaks to, above, are correct.

Comment by Theodora L'Engle Knight on October 29, 2016 at 8:07pm

thank you, jonathan! this is very clear and also reassuring. i was wondering why she wasnt calling out the fbi guy. but i think she just wants to devote as little attention as possible to this whole email thing. i do believe that some GOP cowards will use this as an excuse to support drumf. they have been desperately looking for an excuse. thank god for the comedians and hosts. bill maher did some hilarious stuff last night. as robin williams once said, when he was alive, "joke 'em if they can't take a fuck."

Comment by Jonathan Wolfman on October 29, 2016 at 8:08pm

In fact, Theodora, HRC's original batches of emails had nothing to do w WikiLeaks and Julian Assange. What Assange hacked and leaked are all from HRC's campaign manager, John Podesta and have not touched on the early email issues.

Damn, I just had a comment disappear while I was typing it. Take Two. New computer, does some weird things on this site.

Yes, preventing his election is critical. One example: We all know he games the system by avoiding income taxes, importing cheap foreign labor, making his products overseas, etc., stuff he calls "smart business." How do you reduce gaming of the system? More regulation. What does Trump think the system suffers from? Too much regulation.

Notice anything here?
