i'm losing my mind. 1 point? they are separated by 1 point!!!! i can't bear this. the FBI guy is being so inappropriate and out of line. wtf is going on?

i knew there would be more emails and there will be more and more and more and more and, meanwhile, the fucking democrats/entertainment people aren't leaking squat? i'm not crazy about hillary but this cannot happen.

you don't have to bother reassuring me. this is just fucking devastating. she's only 300 electoral votes ahead. i know that this probably means nothing. but what if it does mean something? this comey thing is insane. the AG is furious. can't the fucking AG do something about this. Comey needs to be fired.

this is intolerable and so many people feel the same way. thank god i finally got some hydrocodone from my doctor. it's for my back and hip but i need to be medicated. i need to be on propofol. 9 days?

and italy is collapsing? i know, i know. this shit happens all the time. but italy? with all that history?

can trump get 300 more electoral votes? these emails are going to be released every day and i can't stand to think about what else the Russians and ASsange have been keeping back to release days before the election.

sorry for the pitiful mini-rant. i'm fighting this bipolar 2 clinical depression anyway. this is just too much piled on.

1  In nearly every presidential  election polls show a tightening in the last week, largely due to Dems and/or Repubs deciding to 'come home' to their respective party toward the ends of campaigns.

2  The 1-point poll you saw is real yet it is hardly the only poll. All the others show HRC w healthier leads.

3  Go to www.538.com  The lead essay there now explains in some detail why an HRC win is a good bet.

4  We do not know what will happen over the next 8 days w the FBI. For all we know, it could energize HRC's voters as much as his voters.

Ferreting out the truth is a full time job lately.  Hillary is fine.  Like Kosh said in his post...the whole thing can flip and do her some good.   There was the news about another of Trump's Casinos going belly up.  Closed the doors and laid off 3,000 people or something like that.

Real Clear Politics shows that the average polling data has HRC ahead of Trump by 4.3%: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/general_e...

And as Jon pointed out www.538.com shows Clinton winning while 270 to Win has HRC at 272 vs Trump at 123 with 143 within the margin of error: http://www.270towin.com/maps/clinton-trump-electoral-map

It all gets crazy in the last week of most Presidential Election years.

It's not Hillary who's going to get the biggest backlash from what Comey just did, it's Comey. Comey really stepped in it. He broke the law. The Hatch Act prohibits Federal employees from influencing elections and he chose to send his letter eleven days before a Presidential election. The Hatch Act does not specify intent - even accidentally doing this is illegal.

The new email investigation does not involve any emails sent by Hillary. It doesn't even involve any emails received by Hillary. This is all about intra-staff communications. Not much evidence either: when the letter was written, Comey didn't even have a warrant to examine those files on Weiner's computer.

And the condemnations aren't limited to Democrats. The guy filing the Hatch Act complaint with whatever internal watchdog department the FBI has was the ethics lawyer for the Bush administration. Even FBI field agents are hitting the ceiling. The rule is you don't discuss an ongoing investigation. And you especially don't do it when you're a Republican damaging a Democrat's election chances because the last thing the FBI can afford is to be perceived as partisan. That would damage the reputation of the FBI worse than the Bush v. Gore decision damaged the reputation of the Supreme Court.

As to backlash Kosh may well be right; as to the vote itself, on 11.8, we simply don't yet know who, if anyone, benefits from this. By Wednesday polls should catch up w this needless mess Comey created.

One more thing...I'm not sure what you mean when you say ... "she's only 300 electoral votes ahead" ....  She isn't. Were she that far ahead in the polls you could feel incredibly comfortable bc at 270 Electoral Votes, even if the other candidate has 268...the one w 270 Electoral Votes WINS.

In a comment on my post re Treachery in the DOJ I wrote:

"This post is about a snake in the grass Republicsn mole whose treachery is intended to wreak havoc on the electoral process.

The letter he wrote was sent only to the Republican members of the  investigative committee. In violation of protocol and professional courtesy not even Elijah Cummings,  the Democratic ranking member on the committee was an addressee, nor was he given a cc."

Comey's behavior wreaks of party loyalty, greed, and racism...

The Hatch Act may not be specific re Intent to influence the outcome of an election, but no criminal  prosecutor would attempt to go forward without a showing of intent...

Intent is usually at the heart of a criminal prosecution of any kind.... .

Reckless disregard and criminal negligence are generally part of compromise verdicts rendered by juries who cannot agree re intent...

If Comey tries to assert that he was just doing his job, the counter argument will be that his job entails following established protocol and taking direction from his superiors in the exectutive branch which includes the Attorney General and the President.

You don't get to define your own perameters and  self determine who the boss is....

Is what he did treacherous?

Is what he did insubordination?

Is what he did unethical?

Is what he did Illegal?l

Most likely, Yes

But he will be allowed to resign and take a better paying job in the private sector amongst his Republican patrons. He'll fade out of the spotlight  of the rich, powerful,  and infamous, and proceed to live comfortably ever after.

As I said at the end of my post:

There's a book and a movie in here somewhere

Comment by Theodora L'Engle Knight on October 31, 2016 at 5:35pm

i agree there is a book and/or film in this. i hope the right person buys the rights. if comey did send that letter only to the GOP then that could not reek more.

kosh, as always, you made this very clear. i love that republicans, some of them are horrified by this. i wonder if Comey is having some kind of nervous breakdown. this is major self-sabotage.

Oh my goodness! Hard to tell if this is a comedy sketch or plea for help. You say don't reassure me so I assume the former. Congratulations for evolving, learning to turn tragedy into comedy. Or wait, maybe they are already one in the same. I too get confused Theodora. Carry on, we will be fine.
