To all you Dads around here.

This is the zealous scrub jay dad who has been waking me up at 5am for weeks as he checks to make sure the cats are inside while his babies hop around on the fence nearby.

He hovers around just outside, checking in, at dinner time, too.

.....and pretty much hangs out nearby, any time, hovering, protecting...

Good Dad.

(please excuse the cell phone photo quality)

~ Cheers, Dads, you done good ~

That is so cute!  To 'check up' on the cats!  They know!  So nice to have a blue birdie around too.  Happy Fathers Day, Anna -- after all - we've all got one!!  :-)

Thank you Songbird, and to you!

It's been fun to watch this guy, back - except the whole 5am stuff. ha! So weird to wake up to a wild bird at the window peeking in and tapping with beak on the window...every single morning for weeks.

He probably knows that being a father may be a thankless task at times, but like pouring warm oatmeal down your underwear on a cold morning-It's the right thing to do.

Anna, thanks for the pictures - regardless of quality - that credit a stand up Dad.

I like the whole Corvidae clan.

Doc, of course oatmeal down the pants on a cold morning is only sensible  ; )

Rodney, thank you - a smart crowd. I like them too. Although, I'll be glad to get a little more sleep, one day. The babies are now fledglings, the parents are guiding them to the cherry tree. We have an agreement:  they get the top third of this huge faithfully producing tree, the part I can't reach even on an orchard ladder. Has worked for years, so far, and this jay has been here for years, also, recognizable by the one missing tail feather that exposes the white underneath when tail feathers fan out - from narrow escape from cat five years ago. Good neighbors, they are  ; )

Thanks Steel  : )
