Recap of the Last four weeks:

8/8: Last Chemo.
Following week: Recovery from Last Chemo.
8/16: Weekend in Austin to celebrate Last Chemo. (it feels like so long ago, now. and that's a Good Thing)

Following week: Prep for Back-to-school. Wed: Meet the Teacher. Not quite nailed down whether Josie is in the Morning or Afternoon class.
Thurs: making lots phone calls to the school trying to get things sorted--with everyone in meetings.
Fri: Registrar calls before Lunch to say Josie is Definitely in the Morning. Teacher calls around 3pm to say she just talked to the registrar to fix the paperwork and Josie is in the afternoon.

Mon 8/26 first day of school. I stapled a chunk of posterboard to Josie's backpack so the Daycare and the Elementary knew where this child should be and when. I went to work to keep myself busy. Kept cell phone close. Did not go to lunch until 12:30 came and went without incident.
5pm--Get a call from the teacher: (scares the crap out of you every time)

"You wanted Josie in the mornings, right? Well, we have another child with a scheduling conflict and he would be better in the afternoons so, starting Wednesday, we can start Josie in the Mornings, if that's alright...She'll just be with a different teacher."

Wed: Used a BRIGHT RED sharpie to edit the sign on Josie's backpack: MORNINGS! 8-11 am! AM! AM!
I went to work to keep myself busy. Obsessively checked cell phone until 8:30. Received Email from school: Parent Information Night! Come meet in your child's classroom Tomorrow night, 5-6 pm to get valuable information about the coming school year!

Thursday: left work at a little early to Meet the Teacher--the NEW teacher.

Friday 9am: Pre-Op appointment. Worked late for catch up.

Saturday: clocked 6hrs OT

Sunday: clocked 6 hrs OT

Labor Day: clocked 8 hrs comp time for Friday.

Tuesday -->Thursday: end of month closing of accounting period. ("intense" is an understatement)

Friday 9/6: had breast reconstructive surgery. Pain, pain, pain. pills, pills, pills. My tits are lookin good though.

I am now on a week and a half of leave from work. And at least a week's leave from motherhood, as dear daughter will be with her dad while I'm recovering.

I don't typically work SO much extra time, even during end-of-month. But with all the doctor's appointments, some days I just stay a little late to keep my work flow steady. It's typically two weeks deep but I wanted to be ALL CAUGHT UP so if no one did anything for my account while I was away, it would still be manageable when I got back.

I'm all caught up. I'm very proud of that. No worries now or later.

And I now have a week and a half to enjoy doing nothing. Oh, and pills. I'll enjoy lots of pills until I can enjoy my boobs.

It's a song that creates an involuntary effect on the sides of one's mouth.
