Gloria is here. she is beyond cute. i got her this Cat Condo Kennel that has perches at various levels -- i wrote about it in my last post -- and i figured that over time, as she grew bigger, she would make her up way up, shelf by shelf. well, not so much. she was meowing loudly and plaintively in the other rooom. cocoa and i found her on the highest perch, the one with the big comfy cinnamon colored cushion. She had climbed up the crate one mental square at a time. but she couldn't figure out how to get down. oh lord. Cocoa just sat there looking up at her, fascinated by the spectacle and the unearthly noise. G had somehow pulled apart one of the two velcro closures that connected the fluffy pillow to the metal shelf so it was seriously hanging by a few threads and G was hanging from It.
she is like a Whirling Dervish, whatever that is, in constant motion. at first, Cocoa was terrified of her, tracking her every move so G couldn't leap on her out of nowhere. now she's enamoured with G. she's the best Kitty Sitter ever. if i come in to the room and can't locate the kitten, C goes in to Search and Rescue Dog mode, sitting stiffly by the last place she saw G.
i don't feel like i can do this whole thing justice without some photos. seeing your rather sedate 9 year old pup leaping around with the tiniest black creature (with the snow white Cotton Ball feet)? it's adorable, makes your heart hurt with Pure Love. I have not seen C in Play Position in years and years. Ella Fitzgerald was the sweetest girl on the planet but she was not a Fun Cool Gal. her only game was humping her Headless Stuffed Goose named Gus. i've posted a video of that but it's kind of disturbing.
G finally discovered her catnip toy, a red lobster since i'm New England born and bred. she's beside herself with excitement. rolling it with all 4 paws and then pouncing on it. C is so jealous and got hold of it but i had to tell her to Leave It. or we would have a Headless Crustacean on our hands.
G has run out of energy for the time being. she's lying between my legs on top of the blue cotton throw that covers them. C is sitting motionless, adjacent to her, on Ella's Doggy Steps. Cocoa is just patiently waiting for Gloria to move again so she can leap around with her. poor C has the most mournful expression, keeps staring at me, willing me to get G moving again but this is such a rare moment of Feline-American stillness, that i can't bear for it to end. oh god, C is pleading with me to pick her up. there is no gaze as intense as that of a Pup that wants you to throw a ball, give her a treat or just freaking figure out what she wants and DO IT! NOW! ookay, here are a few photos, i hope. gloria by herself, with cocoa, in her Cat Condo. She climbed all the way to the top and then was too scared to get down. i probaby mentioned this already. i am so freaking stressed from cropping photos that are still HUGE. but at least you should be able to see how fucking cute this teeny girl is. she is also very very sweet.
