Image result for civility meme

As someone who personally has been badgered & harassed for my lack of "civility", I find it mildly amusing when I hear the Democratic Elitest and the Corpocracy Owned Republicans both calling for "Civility" from the people they have been oppressing with their corruption, machinations and duplicity.

As Joan Hunter Iovino wrote,

"When you tell people to show "civility" to authorities and those with exceptional power and privilege, you neglect to recognize that both sides are not equivalent to one another. One is the oppressor and one is the oppressed. These people have used their power to commit acts of violence against the poor, people of color, immigrants, and women. But heaven forbid we are rude to them when they walk among us."

Voter "civility" gave us the Bushes and Trump.  Corporately owned MSM "civility" gave us the on-going atrocities committed by Israel with nary a word of censure.  Democratic Elitist/Corporate Republican "civility" gave us mass shootings and unjust incarcerations of POC and their babies.

IMO, we need less Nancy "Unacceptable" Pelosi-ish and Chuckie "Show respect" Schumer-ish "civility" and more Maxine "Give'em hell!" Waters-ish and Alexandria "No. Matter. What." Ocasio-Cortez-ish "If America don't come around, we're gonna' burn it down!" (with nods to H. Rap Brown).

No bans. No walls. No fences. No chains. No justice — no peace.

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

So I say, "Fuck your civility!"

People are dying every fucking day because of your "civility"

If, in your mind, perceived "rudeness" is more important than standing up for what is right and using calls for "civility" as a weapon to oppress is more okay than calling people & governments out for their actions then...

YOU ARE THE FUCKING PROBLEM!

Wholly right. The trick, for me, is to deploy all language when and how it'll do one's program/ideas the most good.

...and, of course, that is not always simply done.

Amy, You are absolutely correct, civility is a euphemism for acquiescence, submissiveness, subservience and the like.

The group requesting/demanding civility is being condescending and disrespectful by suggesting that the targeted group is uncivilized and unruly...Hence, inferior....

When I speak of civil discourse on those occasions where I have been critical of your choice of vocabulary it is not because I think of you as being in any way subordinate....Quite the contrary, it is precisely because I respect what you have to say and your right to say it that the vulgarities, obscenities. and profanities detract from the discussion and do little more than precipitate unproductive and noncommunicative fights....

We're all supposed to be better than that...

Ron, if my use of words like "fuck" precipitate a fight then the discussion was "unproductive and noncommunicative" in the first place.

Maybe not you (and I honestly was not thinking of you when I wrote this), but MANY people choose to play the faux-"I'm so offended I'm going to shun you!" card whenever they run smack into someone who doesn't buy their "I support lesser evilism, as long as it is MY lesser evil!" bullshit neo-lib/limo-lib agendas.  It has become their go to strawman defense because they utterly detest it when people call them on their self-serving victimization.

BTW, don't be a "Moderate".  "Moderates" suck because "moderate" is just a more "civil" term for "fucking sheeple!"

I respectfully disagree....

BTW, don't be a "Moderate".

I think you should know me better than that by now...

Don't conflate or confuse a moderate tone of voice with being ideologically or politically moderate....

LOL, that comment wasn't aimed at you either, Ron.  I saw that meme and thought it was a good fit to MY post, not your comment.

As for the beginning of your comment, do you really believe that saying "fuck" is why people totally discount what is said?  You don't see claims of "incivility" (to include implying antisemitism and/or "growing weary") as a planned fall back position and as a weapon to disparage someone's credibility?

Precisely why the ' F-bomb ' should be dropped sparingly...If at all... It depends on the circumstances and the audience....

Nope.  I refuse to give them that power.  Ceding claims (or threatened/bogus claims) of incivility , especially "weaponized" ones, is what they want.  Once ceded they are evoked time and time again whenever they feel the need to play the faux-"victim" card.  I'm done with them dictating "rules" that allow them to do that (as should any one else).

THIS!  This is the perfect example of what I'm talking about.

I'm sure the MSM (as represented by The Telegraph) and Jane "I love killing small, defenseless animals with numerous horses and dogs" Shilling found this to be "uncivil":
