Caution: Writers at play

I woke up this morning from a frantic dream and with clear instructions: Follow the yellow brick road.

Since there are none in Fort Collins, I'm assuming I'm being pointed on a metaphorical journey.

The lyrics go: Follow the Yellow Brick Road. Follow the Yellow Brick Road.
Follow, follow, follow, follow,
Follow the Yellow Brick Road.
Follow the Yellow Brick, Follow the Yellow Brick,
Follow the Yellow Brick Road.

We're off to see the Wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
You'll find he is a whiz of a Wiz! If ever a Wiz! there was.
If ever oh ever a Wiz! there was The Wizard of Oz is one because,
Because, because, because, because, because.
Because of the wonderful things he does.
We're off to see the Wizard. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

How do I do this?

Oprah Winfrey has referred to her success as a "yellow brick road of blessings" during both the announcement of the decision to end her talk show and the farewell episode.

Jean M. House in her article on The Wizard of Oz and the Path to Enlightenment writes: "In the Wizard of Oz, we find that our heroine Dorothy is experiencing a spiritual alchemy. Only instead of using metal, she is transforming her own lead thoughts and feelings into the gold of a more Self-empowered, individual who is demonstrating her mastery of her emotional, physical, spiritual and mental worlds." She also writes, "his child heroine was not a meek and mild victim but one who transforms from a dependent people-pleaser to one who gains an indomitable spirit and courageous attitude, while pioneering new trails in order to find Home."

"Interestingly, most of the spiritual interpretations of The Wizard of Oz do not take a Christian perspective. Joey Green suggests that The Wizard of Oz illustrates the Buddhist search for enlightenment in his book The Zen of Oz: Ten Spiritual Lessons from Over the Rainbow.

NOUN: the yellow brick road the road to success or happiness (in the film the Wizard of Oz the yellow brick road leads to Oz) ⇒ the first step on the yellow brick road to fame and riches.

I'll let you know how it plays out, I'm starting on the yellow brick road today; we'll see where it takes me.

To me, following the yellow brick represents having the courage to embark on a new path and being willing to respond to intuition. Still a great story.

Yes, courage, a new path and all of the adventures along the way to transform me into a new person.

I am so excited for your brave new journey.  I have started off so hopeful so many times but then find myself back at the beginning again after making the same darn choice in destructive men.  sigh.  Good luck.

Zanelle, Caroline Myss and other mystics describe your pattern: "the light is too much that most people turn back to the familiar and say, can't we go slower? Do we have to go so fast.?"Don't beat yourself up about it; everybody has done it.
