I have been laid up this summer.  Not able to use my right arm for several weeks, I started by using my smallest camera (one that could be used with one hand) and then when I was able to use both arms and hands, I moved up to my next smallest camera but this one coupled with a device that allows a photographer to shoot objects just a few inches away.

Not up to moving around a lot, I photographed in my backyard.

A painter for most of 6 decades, this concentration on the small and the close is new.  Today I thought I would show a few of the better closeups.

My favorite painting teacher, Nick Marsicano, when he was in his last decades, stopped painting large canvases of nudes and moved to smaller paintings of flowers.  The desire to make images remained - he just had to change his field of battle.  Well so have I.

Macro device (my birthday present from my wife).

The pictures (or as Neil Slavin would say, the pitchas.)

I love close-up flower pictures, and yours are terrific! My favorite is the third from the bottom. What a lovely profile shot- so elegant!

Thanks all.  It take practice because the focus zone is so small  - maybe 1"  - cannot auto focus.  And even manually, you need to find where focus is possible. I consider this part of learning my craft.

Photo close ups in the garden has been one of my favorite meditative and calming exercises....

nice to see you're getting out, even if your movements have been somewhat curtailed. Nice shots : )

Hope you get better soon ~

Well supper's on the stove Terry and may God bless you . . . !

I haven't been this optimistic since that arduous tour with Marietta & the May Queens.

Packing the car for Winslow.

Plans fell thru.  Twas also going to compliment your graffiti show but my best animator is OTR toward Orlando and I'm a tad too arthritic to upload my BOXF's  Wow Now Detroit Murals . . .
