Such a pretty vine.  Reminds me of the Winter season coming up and here I am in the tropics missing it.   Oh, there is a little snow up on the volcano and there are some cool nights where we need a blanket.. but on the whole, Hawaii is just one beautiful day after another and then it rains and then it is perfect again.  boring.  I miss a good snow storm.

In Alaska we were sometimes snowed in for days.  In our remote fish hatchery house there were boards to put over the bottom floor windows so the snow wouldnt push them in as it piled up around the houses.  The roads were like ice tunnels there with ten to twelve feet of snow on each side.  We had to shovel off the roofs which was a big job so the build up wouldn't crush them.

We lost our boat to the snow.  We had just shoveled it but when we went back in the morning it was under water after another snowfall.  We dredged it up and dried it out to use it for another couple years.  We should have taken in out of the water that winter.  Alaska weather is nothing to fool around with.

Both my little girls are with me this weekend.  They are in their thirties now and love Hawaii.  Im so proud of them for getting out of Alaska and discovering there is a whole world beyond that state.  They love Alaska tho and go back and forth like the whales do.  They are thankful to have been raised up in the North with the salmon runs.  Those long winter nights and short days made us all get very creative to survive.  Now we are doing that in the tropics.

R&L You're very lucky to be near your family.

I'm back north this winter. Last year hardly any snow up here. I suspect we'll see more this year.
